Most Hated Clubs In England

#10  Stoke City

Stoke City are so physical that you would think they are playing rugby and not football. Their football mantra is to lump the ball forward and hope that someone can maybe get a head to it. The lanky Peter Crouch is their centre forward and that should tell you something about their style. All they do is hoof it ahead and pray for a goal. Alternatively, they take super long throws ins and break opponents’ feet. They have no business being in the English top flight!

#9 Newcastle

They have so many French players that they would put a French Ligue 1 side to shame. Even the manager Alan Pardew is French and apparently he has no faith in a non-Frenchman. The Frenchness about the club is so much that any visiting team would think they are playing in Paris and not in England.

#8 Leeds

The original United of England, there was a time when Leeds used to win everything. They have 3 English titles and an FA Cup trophy and even made it to the final of the European Cup. But that is during your grandfather’s era. And yet, they brag about the past and the history and what not. They used to be like Man United and now they are like Liverpool!

#7 Tottenham

Forget becoming the best club in England! Forget becoming the best club in London! Spurs cannot even become the best club in North London. Forever in Arsenal's shadow, they continue to punch above their weight. They spend heavily in the summer, do well all season but ultimately fail and finish below their hated rivals!

#6 Everton

Another club that has airs about themselves despite achieving nothing. They are always in 5th or 6th position, with their eyes on a Champions League spot. They are pumped up when it comes to taking on Merseyside derby rivals Liverpool but when the season ends, they have to settle for Europa League. They also make it to the occasional FA Cup final only to be beaten there. And yet, they don’t learn their lesson and continue to persist for the glory that eludes them

#5 Arsenal

No trophies since 2005 and still they brag about being a so-called top club. Some tippy-tappy passing is all they have and despite losing all their star players like Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie, the fans still continue to brag and the club still continues to charge the most expensive tickets in England. All they have is one season – some ten years ago – when they won the league without losing a game!

#4 Manchester City

Funded by Abu Dhabi oil well money, City were nowhere in the picture just 3 seasons ago. They were just another club in the Premier League and did not even come close to challenging for titles. Then Sheikh Mansoor came with his millions and they practically bought the EPL trophy by signing superstar players. But achieving success is one thing; let’s see if they can repeat the feat!

#3 Chelsea

John Terry. Ashley Cole. Jon Obi Mikel. Do you need more reasons to hate a club? Chelsea too were nowhere in the picture until 2005 when Roman Abramovich came waving his Russian Rubles. A flurry of trophies later, they believe that they are supposed to win everything. When they fail to win something, they fire their manager. As if that is the solution!

#2 Liverpool

They have won 18 English league titles but the last one came way back in 1990, before you were born. And still they talk about legacy. When all else fails, they talk about their history. They used to brag about their 5 Champions League trophies and now they don’t even qualify for Europe anymore. Liverpool fans cannot see beyond Steven Gerrard and it is high time they stopped living in the past and woke up to the reality!

#1 Manchester United

Where do we begin? It is not the club that is hated so much, it is their fans. Red Devils fans think that success is their birthright and there is nothing more important on earth for them than Manchester United. Loud and proud and vain about it, Glory Glory Man United is all they can say. And when they take a rare drubbing, they talk about how they are still behind their team. As if the rest of us desert our teams!
