Photo: Victor Akande For a record 3rd year in a row, the Masta Blasta band took the lead in an enduring 16-kilometre parade which climaxed at the U.J Esuene Stadium recently during the annual Carnival Calabar in Cross River State. The band faced stiff competition this year from other bands like Passion Four, Freedom Band, Seagull and Bayside, but Masta Blasta stood out as they stormed the streets with popular Nigerian pop duo, P-Square. Touted as the biggest street party in Africa, the carnival, which entered its 10th edition this year, was flagged off by Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke. Imoke, who described the show as unique in promoting talents and unity among Nigerians, said going by the theme of this year’s carnival which is ‘Celebration Time’, the people of Cross River State have remained united as one throughout the years. Other notable celebrities at this year’s event include Kate Henshaw, Jim Iyke and Don Flexx as well as the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Uriel Palti and his wife....
