Man pleads guilty to assaulting policewomenThe officers were trying to arrest him for beating up a pregnant woman
A 25-year-old man, Tunde Adebayo, on Friday in Lagos, pleaded guilty to assaulting two policewomen.

Adebayo, a sewing machine repairer, told an Ogudu Magistrate court that he beat up the police officers and prevented them from carrying out their duties.
The officers, Pauline Gabriel and Ekpe Michael, were assaulted by the suspect who was resisting arrest for allegedly beating a pregnant woman.
The prosecutor, Gbenga Salami, told the court that the incident occurred at Elebiju street in the Alapere area of Lagos.
"In an attempt to arrest the accused by the officers, he pushed them down and slapped their faces. He also tore one of the officers' uniform and attempted to run away before being re-arrested by other police officers who came on the scene," he said.
Salami added that the pregnant woman who was earlier assaulted by Adebayo, was still receiving treatment at a hospital.
Magistrate Bola Folarin-Williams adjourned the case to May 25, 2012 for sentencing
