Kanye West Announces 2 Chainz G.O.O.D. Music Signing

It's T.R.U. Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz is the newest member of the G.O.O.D. Music roster. Kanye West announced the signing on Friday (May 11) via Twitter with a no-so-subtle message.

"2 Chainz is charging 100k for a verse now cause he's G.O.O.D.!!!!!!" 'Ye wrote.

The news comes after the pair performed together at the South By Southwest music festival in March, then the producer later stood alongside Chainz during the rapper's appearance on "106 & Park." The two incidents created chatter that the T.R.U. REALigion lyricist and 'Ye would be united under West's G.O.O.D. banner. The buzz intensified last month when Yeezy delivered "Mercy," the first offering from the forthcoming G.O.O.D. Music compilation album, which featured 2 Chainz.

In February, 2 Chainz announced he signed to Def Jam Recordings as a solo act, after being a member of the label's roster previously as a part of Playaz Circle. Since inking with Def Jam, the rapper travelled across the country a number of times to record with West, according to sources with knowledge of the looming deal. Last month, West also recruited veteran rapper Q-Tip into his fold.

2 Chainz is currently finalizing his solo debut LP, Based on a T.R.U. Story, due August 14. The first offering, "No Lie," featuring Drake was recently released. The pair filmed a video for the track in Los Angeles; as of press time, a date for the premiere of the visual has not been set.
