Obesere survives. Bloody auto crash

Abass Akande popularly known as Obesere narrowly survived a frightening car accident involving his Lexus jeep LX470 on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Ijebu Ode in Ogun State on his way to Lagos.

According to reports, the Ibadan born musician who entertained at the  Top 1 Hotel on Saturday was on his way back to Lagos at around 7: 30pm, when the accident occurred. His chauffeur identified as Femi lost the control of the jeep and rammed it into a tree, damaging the jeep.

Reports also have it that the artiste, the driver and two others passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Orisunmade Hospital, Jakande Estate, Isolo, Lagos.

While reacting  to the ugly accident, Obesere who is still under medical observation debunked insinuations that the driver was drunk.

“Femi doesn’t take alcohol and when we go to shows like that I always give him time to rest. H also doesn’t take part in our music performance. I was on the phone with my eyes on  him when the jeep swerved into the bush. It was a terrible occurrence, but I thank God nobody died,” he said.

While friends and well-wishers have continued to commiserate with him over the sad event, Obesere, who recently waxed an album for former Lagos State governor and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) party leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed, to mark the 60th birthday of the political Amazon, has, however, adopted the nickname of the astute politician, Jagaban following the accident.
