Inside the horror 'rape' 4WD: Pictures show Pajero in which British backpacker, 22, was allegedly 'held hostage and raped for TWO months' before petrol station worker alerted police when victim staggered in with 'black eyes and marks on her throat

Packed with clothes and items for a road trip adventure, these pictures show the white Mitsubishi Pajero at the centre of a British backpacker's horrific months-long hostage ordeal.
The 22-year-old woman was found in the 4WD by police with 'serious' facial injuries and in extreme distress when she was pulled over by officers on the Warrego Highway, in Queensland's west, on Sunday afternoon.
Police allege the woman was 'repeatedly raped, bashed and held captive' by the accused man, 22, who was found in an alcove in the back of the car. It comes as local service station worker exclusively detailed the harrowing moment the backpacker walked into a nearby petrol station crying and 'shaking uncontrollably' moments before.
The tourist walked into a nearby petrol station with two black eyes and marks on her throat -  distressed because she couldn't pay for the tank of petrol she had just put into the 4WD.
'She had two black eyes and marks down the side of her neck,' the worker told Daily Mail Australia.

Banks race to fix security flaw in contactless cards as it's revealed that thieves can use them for MONTHS after they’ve been reported stolen

The use of contactless cards has soared in recent years and ‘tap and pay', accounting for one in four payments

Banks have refused to say how many times a card can be used after it has been cancelled, citing security reasons.
Some indicated the cards could only be used for a ‘low number’ of purchases up to the value of £50.
But lawyers say banks’ failure to warn customers about the security risk means they could be breaching industry regulations. Watchdog the Financial Conduct Authority said it was ‘urgently’ working to solve the problem.
A spokesman told the Daily Mail: ‘In a limited number of circumstances, it is possible for a cancelled contactless card to be used by fraudsters. While there are controls in place and the overall risk is low, the FCA has been urgently working with card schemes and banks to ensure this issue is fixed.’
The use of contactless cards has soared in recent years and ‘tap and pay’ now makes up one in four of all card payments.
There is a grey area regarding who takes responsibility for money that goes missing from a customer’s account after a contactless card is stolen. In theory, the bank should pick up the transactions and refund the money automatically, but it seems some expect the customer to spot them.

Do women REALLY want chaps to last longer? As a scientist invents a spray to prolong male performance, our fearless writers from both sides of the gender divide tackle a delicate question

This week it was announced that scientists have created a new drug designed to prolong men’s sexual performance
As the world well knows, it’s a simple matter of biology that the sexes will never be equal. In matters of conjugal relations, the Earth never moves at the same speed.
This week it was announced that scientists have created a new drug designed to prolong men’s sexual performance.
Professor Mike Wyllie, one of the team of scientists who developed Viagra in the Nineties, has created a spray-on medication, called Fortacin, which is said to help men last up to ten times longer in the bedroom
But while some may relish the opportunity for increased enjoyment, others will be turning pale at the thought.
Here, nine unabashed writers ask whether it’s what men — and women — really want?
GO FOR LONGER? NOT WHEN THERE’S LAUNDRY TO DO

Apple's redesigned iPhone might not be ready in time for a September launch

iphone concept
Here's the current state of iPhone rumors: Apple is expected to launch three iPhone models this fall. Two are successors to the current iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but one model will be completely redesigned, and could cost over $1,000.
That last one is the phone Apple fans will probably want — the "10th anniversary" iPhone, with a better "OLED" screen, redesigned fingerprint sensor, and likely other cutting-edge technologies that haven't even been rumored yet.
But it now sounds like it could release later than September. Multiple supply chain watchers in recent weeks have said they believe production on the "OLED iPhone" will not start until September, which suggests the high-end iPhone "8" may not go on sale in September, as has been the case for years.

THE OSCARS FIRE THE PWC ACCOUNTANTS Behind Best Pic Fail

0301-martha-ruiz-brian-cullinan-twitter-01
The PricewaterhouseCoopers employees who were responsible for the biggest Academy Awards flub of all time won't make the mistake again ... because they've been booted from working future Oscars.
The film academy president says Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz have been permanently relieved of their duties of handing out the award envelopes. As we reported ... Brian was the guy who handed Warren Beatty the wrong envelope for Best Picture, possibly because he was distracted while tweeting like crazy.
Sources close to PWC tell us ... Brian and Martha are still keeping their jobs with the firm, and won't face any further punishment. We're told Brian and Martha are devastated over the screwup, but call it an "honest mistake."
Our sources also say Brian's use of social media was approved and actually encouraged by the Academy.

Rachel Dolezal -- the white former NAACP leader who believes she's black -- is doubling down with a legal name change to Nkechi Amare Diallo.
The 39-year-old filed to adopt the West African moniker in Washington State ... according to Daily Mail. Nkechi is short for Nkechinyere in the Nigerian language of Igbo, and translates to "gift of god."
Her new last name, Diallo, comes from the Fula people of West Africa and means "bold" ... which seems all too fitting for the artist formerly known as Rachel.
Nkechi maintains she still identifies as a black woman. Her baby boy's name already reflects that, and now hers does too.

INTERVIEW WITH WBC WELTERWEIGHT CHAMP DANNY GARCIA

danny garcia

This March, undefeated 28-year-old WBC Welterweight Champion Danny “Swift” Garcia faces his biggest challenge in the ring taking on the also undefeated Keith Thurman. The Philly native took a break from his training session, that he jokingly says consists of “running hills, eating rocks and wrestling alligators,” to talk about boxing, family, business and of course Hip-Hop.
WBC Welterweight Champion Danny “Swift” Garcia prepares for arguably the most challenging fight of his career. His next opponent is WBA Welterweight titlist Keith “One Time” Thurman- a hard-hitting knockout specialist with a perfect record of 27-0 but hasn’t fought in over a year. Still, Garcia is listed as an underdog but has no concerns about Thurman. “He’s a good fighter but it’s nothing that I’ve never seen before. I’m a better fighter. He’s a good fighter; I’m a great fighter. And that’s going to show March 4th.” This highly anticipated fight is set to take place in Brooklyn, NY at the Barclays Center while being broadcasted live on national television bringing mainstream exposure to this decisive matchup.
Garcia is training no differently than his previous thirty-three career fights which all resulted in victories. “I’m not changing anything. I’ve been in big fights before so I just look at it like another name I’m fighting on my resume. I’m going in there and working hard day in and day out to get the job done”. Danny Garcia’s physical stamina and mental discipline is rooted in his native hometown and Latino heritage. “Philadelphia is a great city. It made me who I am. I’m a Puerto Rican from Philly. The tough streets of Philly with my Puerto Rican background and its boxing history were just the perfect mixture” says Swift.

Stand Down ... I'M NOT RUNNING FOR PREZ OPRAH

Just sayin'.

KENDRICK LAMAR TALKS NEW ALBUM AND CONTENT, “MY FOCUS IS ULTIMATELY GOING BACK TO MY COMMUNITY”

musicians-slide-1WUP-master1050

It’s been two years since Kendrick Lamar released his critically acclaimed album, To Pimp a Butterfly was released and it seems that fans aren’t the only ones ready for a new project.
In an interview with T Magazine, which he graces the cover alongside Beck and Tom Waits, K. Dot talks about his mindset over the past few months and his plan for his next album.
“I think now, how wayward things have gone within the past few months, my focus is ultimately going back to my community and the other communities around the world where they’re doing the groundwork,” Kendrick said. “To Pimp a Butterfly was addressing the problem. I’m in a space now where I’m not addressing the problem anymore. We’re in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God. Nobody speaks on it because it’s almost in conflict with what’s going on in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system.”
Kendrick also talked about his seven-month-old daughter and how she’s the inspiration for his thought process behind his new project and what he wants to contribute to the world.

Scientists say signs of earliest life on Earth found

Microfossils up to almost 4.3 billion years old found in Canada of microbes are similar to the bacteria that thrive today around sea floor hydrothermal vents and may represent the oldest-known evidence of life on Earth, scientists said on Wednesday.

The fossils from the Hudson Bay shoreline in northern Quebec near the Nastapoka Islands lend credence to the hypothesis that hydrothermal vents spewing hot water may have been the cradle of life on Earth relatively soon after the planet formed, the researchers said.
They also said Earth's planetary neighbor Mars at that time is thought to have had oceans, long since gone, that may have boasted similar conditions conducive to the advent of life.
Tiny filaments and tubes made of a form of iron oxide, or rust, formed by the microbes were found encased in layers of quartz that experts have determined to be between 3.77 billion and 4.28 billion years old, according to the study published in the journal Nature.

Popular heartburn drugs linked to gradual yet ‘silent’ kidney damage

Taking popular heartburn drugs for prolonged periods has been linked to serious kidney problems, including kidney failure. The sudden onset of kidney problems often serves as a red flag for doctors to discontinue their patients’ use of so-called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which are sold under the brand names Prevacid, Prilosec, Nexium and Protonix, among others.
But a new study evaluating the use of PPIs in 125,000 patients indicates that more than half of patients who develop chronic kidney damage while taking the drugs don’t experience acute kidney problems beforehand, meaning patients may not be aware of a decline in kidney function, according to researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and the Veterans Affairs St. Louis Health Care System, United States (U.S.). Therefore, people who take PPIs, and their doctors, should be more vigilant in monitoring use of these medications.
