"Better burger" chains from Smashburger to Five Guys have exploded in recent years, leading to industry heavyweights like McDonald's and Wendy's changing their strategies. 
But America's obsession with burgers seems to be fading. 
This week, Nation's Restaurant News released a list of the fastest-growing restaurant chains. Burgers were noticeably absent from the top five, which instead included chicken chains Chick-fil-A, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, and Wingstop.

Moroccan who murdered former British Olympic diver Peter Tarsey and wife following mystery row is jailed for 31 years

A Moroccan painter who stormed the home of former British Olympic diver Peter Tarsey and his wife Jean and shot them both dead has been jailed for 31 years.
Mr Tarsey, known locally as David, and his wife Jean, were found cuddling each other on their sofa at their ex-pat home in Spain with single bullet wounds to their heads
Painter Driss Drizi, 63, reportedly confessed during questioning to shooting Mrs Tarsey in the face and Mr Tarsey in the neck after a row.
He was jailed after striking a deal with prosecutors by confessing to his crimes during a pre-trial court hearing.

Breaking News: Ryan Giggs leaves Manchester United to end 29 year association with the club

Manchester United have confirmed that club legend Ryan Giggs has left Old Trafford.
The Welshman spent 29 years at the club as a player, coach and assistant manager and is the most decorated British player in history.
Giggs decided to leave Old Trafford after being told he would not become assistant boss to new manager Jose Mourinho.
Giggs confirmed the move in an official statement: "After 29 seasons at Manchester United as a player and assistant manager, I know winning is in the DNA of this club - giving youth a chance, and playing attacking and exciting football.
"It’s healthy to have high expectations, it’s right to expect to win. Manchester United expects, deserves, nothing less.

Police retires AIG Joseph Mbu, 20 others


The Police Service Commission yesterday approved the retirement of controversial Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Mbu Joseph Mbu and 20 other AIGs. Mbu, a onetime commissioner for Police in Rivers state during the last administration, was always at loggerheads with the immediate past governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi.

 A statement by the Commission’s spokesman Ikechukwu Ani yesterday, said the affected AIGs are Bala A. Hassan, Yahaya Garba Ardo, Irmiya F.Yarima, Danladi Y. Mshebwala and Tambari Y. Mohammed. Others are Bala Magaji Nasarawa, Musa Abdulsalam, Adisa Bolanta, Mohammed J. Gana, Umaru Abubakar Manko, Lawal Tanko, Olufemi A. Adenike, Johson A. Ogunsakin, Adenrele T. Shinaba, James O. Caulcrick, Olufefemi David Ogumbayode, Edgar T. Nanakumo, Kalafite H. Adeyemi, Patrick D. Dokumor and Sabo Ibrahim Ringim.

Nigerian Army sacks military medical doctor for having sex with a colleagues wife


A Nigerian military doctor, identified as Lieutenant Musa Mustapha Bature has been sacked by the Nigerian Army court-martial after he was found guilty of having sex with his colleague’s wife.

Known for his notorious sex life, 38 year old Lieutenant Bature from Kebbi state, reportedly took advantage of one of his colleague's wife who came to him for consultation...

While in his office, he sexually stimulated the newly married woman and then had sex with her. He asked her to come to his house in the evening to collect an ointment for her ailment and then had sex with her again.

The woman, out of guilt, reported the matter to the barrack's chaplain who forwarded her complaint to his superiors. At the Army court-martial on Wednesday, June 29th, Bature was found guilty on a two count charge of illicit sexual relationship and unprofessional conduct.

He confessed to the crime at the court marshal. His fate would be finally decided by a military council, which statutorily ratifies such sentences. Among the punishment prescribed for such offences includes jail term and dismissal from service with dishonour.

Nigerians consume more than 5 million metric tons of rice every year, with a significant portion of its consumption needs sourced from imports. Rotimi Williams WMB -4.95%, an ambitious 35 year-old Nigerian entrepreneur and rice farmer, is on a quest to change that.
Williams, a former Journalist, is the owner of Kereksuk Rice Farm, the 2nd largest commercial rice farm in Nigeria by land size. His farm, which is situated in Nasarawa state in northern Nigeria, currently sits on 45,000 hectares and employs more than 600 indigenes of Nasarawa.
I recently caught up with the budding entrepreneur in Lagos, and had a brief chat with him where he recounted his journey and mused on how Nigeria can attain self-sufficiency in rice production in the near future.

Six people, including children killed in attack on buses by suspected jihadists in northern Kenya


At least six people, including children , were killed in an attack on buses in the county of Mandera in northern Kenya. The gunmen opened fire on the first bus, which failed to stop, and then on the second one which resulted in the casualties.

"Police on the scene have found six persons shot dead," said police chief Joseph Boinnet. "The hunt for the terrorists is under way."

This time, law enforcement officials kicked Breezy out of a villa he was renting in Ibiza, according to TMZ. A police report obtained by the site claims that Brown and his entourage destroyed the place with alleged damages including wall carvings, urine, and vomit.

Cops reportedly got involved when the “Grass Ain’t Greener” singer refused to leave once his rental time had expired. Now, the troubles could continue.

Kendall Jenner bought the renovated Hollywood Hills mansion of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt for $6.5 million. The celebrity couple listed the house in January for $8 million but finally sold the Sunset Strip-centric home to Kendall Jenner for $6.5 million, according to TMZ. Chipotle responds to cocaine charges against senior executive

Chipotle has placed Mark Crumpacker, its chief marketing and development officer, on administrative leave after he was charged in relation to a drug-trafficking ring in New York City, the company told us.
Crumpacker was one of 18 "repeat customers" charged on Thursday with allegedly buying cocaine from a drug-delivery service that operated out of Manhattan's Lower East Side.
Chipotle spokesman Chris Arnold told us:
"At the moment, we know very little about these charges. Due to the nature of the situation, Mark has been placed on administrative leave. We made this decision in order to remain focused on the operation of our business, and to allow Mark to focus on these personal matters. Mark's responsibilities have been assigned to other senior managers in his absence."

Merrill Lynch associate and Fox Business producer among 21 indicted in massive NYC cocaine bust

The Manhattan district attorney's office has charged more than a dozen people, including high-profile executives, bankers, and accountants, in relation to a massive New York City cocaine sting.
Three people were charged for allegedly operating the cocaine-trafficking ring out of Manhattan's Lower East Side: Kenny Hernandez, 35, Felix Nunez, 27, and Oscar Almonte, 29.
The operation is accused of selling more than $75,000 in cocaine in one year, according to indictment papers obtained by Business Insider.
Eighteen alleged "repeat customers" were also charged, including Christopher Dodson, a client associate at Merrill Lynch; Mark Crumpacker, chief marketing and development officer for Chipotle; Katie Welnhofer, a Fox Business producer who works on "Mornings with Maria"; and Austin Dodson, an associate at real-estate firm Cushman & Wakefield.

Man kills his wife, 3 children and then himself in a murder-suicide


A Las Vegas woman, Phoukeo Dej-Oudom, 35, was seen running and screaming for help as her gun-wielding estranged husband chased her from their home to two store parking lots, authorities said Thursday.
Court records show that Dej-Oudom filed for divorce May 25 from her husband, Jason Hagan Dej-Odoum after almost 16 years of marriage. The couple were married in July 2000 in Columbus, Ohio.

The document asked a judge to consider domestic violence when considering custody but didn't provide any detail. It also noted the involvement of Clark County Child Protective Services.

However, no one appeared for the June 22 hearing in the divorce case.
