Hugo Chavez Dies: Mourning In Venezuela

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has died at the age of 58 after losing his long battle with cancer. The country's vice president Nicolas Maduro fought back tears as he announced the death in a national television broadcast. He said Mr Chavez, who had been in power for 14 years, died at 4.25pm local time "after battling a tough illness for nearly two years". Amid fears of unrest, Mr Maduro also said the army and police had been deployed "to accompany and protect our people and guarantee the peace". Hundreds of Venezuelans poured into the streets of capital Caracas, with many crying, hugging each other, or shouting slogans of support. Clusters of women with tears streaming down their faces clung to each other and wept near the Miraflores presidential palace. Some wore T-shirts with slogans that read "Go forward commander!" Nearby, grime-faced men pumped their arms in the air while shouting "Long live Chavez! Long live Chavismo!" The country's foreign minister Elias Jaua declared seven days of national mourning and said a wake for Mr Chavez will be held until Friday, when his official funeral will take place.

Micheal and his mother Cissy, were guests on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show, ‘Oprah Next Chapter’, on Monday, January 28, 2013 where he confessed to have been the first to introduce the late singer to crack cocaine in the 80s.
‘You gotta understand at the time in the ’80s it was acceptable. It’s painful, I feel responsible for what I let go so far’, Michael told Oprah.
He also says he didn’t realise how deadly drugs could be when he first brought them to Whitney’s doorstep.
Whitney Houston, 47, was found dead in her Beverly Hills Hotel room on February 11, 2012 as a result of excessive use of cocaine

El-Rufai Apologises For Tweeting ‘Jesus Joke’

Nasir El-Rufai
Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has apologised for the ‘Jesus Joke’ he shared on twitter.
A certain Ogunyemi Bukola, with the handle; @zebbook had tweeted: ‘If Jesus criticized Jonathan’s govt, Maku/Abati/Okupe will say he slept with Mary Magdalene’. After this, El-Rufai copied the tweet and added the letters ‘LWKMD’ which means ‘Laugh Wan Kill Me Die’.
The joke did not seem to go down well with some of his Christian followers who respectfully protested the joke calling it distasteful and obnoxious.
The former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had to go to his Facebook page to publish a full apology.
In the statement, El Rufai referred to the joke as an innocent attempt to show the godlessness of the Jonathan government to belittle anyone that dares to ask them to be accountable.
In the statement, he said, ‘To those who were genuinely offended by the retweet, I apologize. I did not mean to offend anyone, neither did the @zeebook I know and featured as one of the Young Voices in my Friday Column’. ‘Jesus or Isa Alaihis Salaam is a respected prophet of Islam.Every Muslim accepts this in addition to his miraculous virgin birth. It is therefore absurd for any Muslim believer to disrespect Jesus Christ’.
