Coffins deposited at Uniben former Bursar’s residence

THE simmering crisis over the vacant position of the Bursar of the University of Benin yesterday took a bizarre twist as two black coffins draped with red strip marks sandwiched by two earthen wares of sacrifice were deposited at the front gate of the official residence of the former Bursar of the University, Dr. May Ifeoma Nwoye .

According to Mrs. Nwoye, this incident is coming on the heels of a recent interview granted to media organizations by the former Bursar while responding to the deluge of allegations bothering on financial impropriety leveled against her by the Vice – Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Osayuki Oshiodin.

The former Bursar while speaking with journalists in Benin yesterday on the dumping of the mini coffins at her gate ,   said she was alerted by a neigbour at about 11 pm Thursday that some men who came in  two vehicles had deposited some luggage at her gate and had wanted to know if she was expecting same as  he, the neigbour suspected their movements to be very unusual.

According to her, “I then came out to see things for myself only to behold about three black mini- coffins at my front gate.”

Following due process and the normal procedures, I then called the University Chief Security Officer and he was blabbing some incoherent words which I could not understand and the telephone them went off. I called again and the telephone was dead”.

“I then called the Police and they came to see things for themselves and left. While still outside, a security patrol jeep came light grey in colour came and I was happy that at last there was security. But they told me that they were going to the borehole to fetch some water and when we turned to get into the house, the vehicle made a U-turn and in jiffy, the occupants alighted and took away the third mini-coffin and speed off and left two other coffins behind”.

“As I speak to you now neither the University Chief Security Officer nor any officer of the administration has come to see what happened”.

Mrs. Nwoye disclosed that since the issue of who becomes the next Bursar of the institution came up and had indicted her interest to be retained, she had been receiving anonymous telephones calls from different groups and persons threatening to deal with her if she does not forget her ambition to be re-appointed for a second term as the Bursar of the University,

Besides, she claimed that before the current incident, her security personnel have been withdrawn by the University authorities and appealed to the Commissioner of Police, Edo State to save and protect  her life

Justin Bieber Could Face Legal Action Over Twitter Prank

Justin Bieber's ** prank-loving ways will be celebrated this week on MTV's "Punk'd," but one recent stunt was not so well received by two Texas residents.

The teen phenom tweeted out a random phone number to his 19 million followers earlier this month with the caption "Call me right now," but left off a final digit. According to 3m360], droves of teenage fans began guessing the missing number, leading to more than 1,000 phone calls to an older woman named Dilcie and a man named Kent.

The tweet has since been deleted, but the duo has teamed up with a lawyer to threaten legal action against the 18-year-old. According to the site, the legal team suggests that Bieber offer an apology in addition to concert tickets for Dilcie's grandchildren, an endorsement of Kent's current online project and money for any out of pocket expenses.

A representative for Bieber did not immediately return The Hollywood Reporter's [Link] request for comment.

Leader Of Female Robbery Gang Pleads For Leniency For Her Gang

Nneka Orji, the head of a female robbery gang arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lagos has confessed that she and her girls derived joy from torturing their male victims because they were once victims of robbery attacks perpetrated by guys.

Speaking on their mode of operation, the lady who hails from Otolo Nnewi, Anambra State, said: "I had been a victim of the crime for which we were arrested. I was tortured and nearly raped. But for the leg kick I gave to one of the criminals who attempted to rape me after the gang had duped me of my life savings, I would have been raped.

"If I mention the amount, you would not believe me. I have fallen victim to many wicked men. Some who said they wanted to marry me later became gold diggers and abandoned me after milking me dry. These wicked acts made me to hate men, especially the criminally-minded ones.

"I am not an armed robber because we did not operate with gun. Ours was more of brain works. We obtained by false pretence, otherwise called 419," 27-year-old Nneka said.

"However, God gave me a reliable fiancé. His name is Mr. Okey Holland from Nnewi. He travelled to Holand on a business trip and we hope to do our traditional marriage and a society wedding the moment he returns from Holland.

"For now, I reside with my uncle, one Mr. Ikechukwu Ndu of No. 14, College Road, Ogba. He knows that I am into 419 business.

"I was arrested for armed robbery when we did not rob with arms. In fact, what we did was not armed robbery. It was a common 419 deal. Why it looked like armed robbery was that our victim, a lady, jumped out of our operational vehicle, shouting ole! ole!! (robber! robber!!), which attracted an irate mob and the police at Alausa (Lagos). We were arrested and handed over to SARS.

"The officer in charge of SARS, SP Abba Kyari, even instructed the investigating police officer, Coporal Ediga Augustine, not to put us in confirmed armed robbery cell until he had finished the investigation. Our business is to defraud people. We are not armed robbers."

Asked what role he played in the gang, she said: "My role is very clear. I played the role of a catcher. I speak the word to the victim and if it catches him or her, others will start working on him or her.

"For instance, if a victim enters our cab, my role is to open up a discussion by speaking the word, like telling him or her that we had dollars in the vehicle or that a foreigner or an Alhaji wanted his dog to sleep with me but I ended stealing plenty of dollars from him before I escaped. I would tell the passenger that the problem was how to change it or where to take it to.

"If the passenger is foolish and expressed interest, we would start working on him or her. But if he or she did not show interest, we would drop him. I was also a victim before I joined them."

Asked how they were able to torture men without guns, she said they used to push stubborn men out of their vehicle while in motion, making them to sustain serious injuries.

"At times, we would pull their manhood with our hands until they felt serious pains and made forced promise to the gang not to involve the police," she added.

According to an insider in SARS office in Lagos, Nneka and her four other accomplices will be charged to court soon for robbery. But Nneka is begging them not to do so, she's insisting that they are "common criminals" and should be treated and tried as such.

18-Year-Old Ukranian Girl Who Posted A Video Describing How 3 Men Gang-Raped Her Dies

The poor Ukrainian teen who was gang-raped, dumped in a ditch and set on fire has died days after she posted a tragic online video revealing her ordeal.

Oksana Makar bravely told from her hospital bed how she was raped, strangled and burned by three men in a savage attack which stripped off 55 per cent of her skin.

Her harrowing hospital video, filmed by her mother, emerged after medics had been forced to amputate one of her arms and both her feet in a battle to keep her alive.

But after a two-week fight for life, health officials in Donetsk said Oksana, 18, died today of severe burns and damage to her lungs.

The rape attack on Oksana shocked Ukraine with its cruelty, and also caused nationwide protests against corruption after police initially released two of the suspects who had powerful connections in the region.

In the 1:19 minute video clip which emerged earlier this month, Oksana looks distraught as her mother, Tetyana Surovitska, urges her to describe her horrific ordeal by saying 'a couple of words to Ukraine'.

She starts to describe the attack, but then breaks off looking visibly upset and says she can't.

The fire stripped off 55 per cent of her skin and surgeons had to amputate one of her arms and both her feet as they battled to keep her alive - her bandaged shoulder can be seen on her right side.

When questioned as to what punishment her attackers should receive after the March 9 attack, the teen replies their testicles should be cut off and fed to dogs.

Two of the suspects were Maxim Prisyjnikov, 23, the son of the regional administrator, and Artyon Pogosyan, 21, the son of the regional prosecutor, according to the Hurriyet Daily News.

When her mother asks her how she will survive, the blonde-headed young woman says: 'How I will live, I will live. That's all.'

Her mother has been criticised for posting the video online with many users suggesting it was insensitive to her daughter asking her to recount her harrowing experience publicly when 'she is clearly distraught and in pain.'

Miss Makar starts to describe the attack, but then breaks off looking visibly upset and says she can't.

Ms Surovitska has already been accused of spending fundraising money for her daughter's care on herself, as well as charging reporters for interviews.

'Look at me. Do I look like a rich woman?' she said in an interview with a Ukrainian website, Gazeta.ua.

The shocking case sparked mass protests across Ukraine and naked campaigners led protests over the sloppy nature of the police investigation and the perceived leniency with which the suspects have been treated.

Some Members of Parliament have called for Ukraine to bring in the death penalty for the accused, with one even suggesting the alleged rapists be castrated.

The 18-year-old claims she was invited by Prisyjnikov and Pogosyan to their friend Yevgeniy Krasnoshek's apartment, where she was allegedly raped.

They tried to strangle her to death before wrapping her in a sheet, dumping her in a pit at a construction site and setting her alight, it was alleged in the Kyiv Post.

Miss Makar was found barely alive the following day by a man who heard her moaning. After undergoing surgery, she was finally able to recount her ordeal to police.

She regained consciousness on Friday, but doctors induced a coma and moved her from a hospital in Mykolayiv to a burn treatment center in Donetsk.

In an interview with Gazeta.ua after the attack, she said: 'I could not feel my body. At first, I was screaming for help.

'But there was nobody there, I began to pray. I thought I had died. I remember it all as if in a fog.'

The three suspects were arrested, but two of them were released later that day due to lack of evidence, according to the Mykolayiv prosecutor's office.

Prosecutors say they did not question Miss Makar because she was not conscious despite her mother insisting she was able to speak.

But anger erupted across the country when a chief police officer confirmed two of the suspects were sons of former government officials, one of whom apparently appeared in a YouTube video calmly describing the attack.

Women's rights group Femen staged a topless protest in front of the general prosecutors office in the capital, Kyiv, chanting 'Death to the sadists!' and 'Execute the b****s!'

Kanye West, Lil Wayne Songs Named in EMI Suit Against Def Jam Rapstar

The company behind the video game Def Jam Rapstar is being sued by publishing house EMI for failing to clear songs that are featured in the game, including tunes by Kanye West, DMX and Lil Wayne, among others.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the various subsidiaries of EMI filed the lawsuit in New York federal court last week and is alleging substantial damages incurred by the video game creators' inability to obtain musical rights required for the songs to be featured on the game.Def Jam Rapstar was produced by 4mm Games and Terminal Reality, both co-defendants in the lawsuit.

The suit also says EMI notified the game makers about its rights to account for royalties, but the demands were ignored. The complaint includes a listing of compositions and sound recordings that were used in the game, including DJ Khaled's "I'm So Hood," which EMI claims 10 percent ownership, MIMS' "This Is Why I'm Hot," a song with 16 writers which EMI claims 16 percent ownership, and Lil Wayne's "Got Money," which EMI claims 30 percent ownership.

EMI also says some of its sound recordings were infringed in the game, like Daft Punk's "Harder Better Faster Stronger," which was sampled by Kanye West on the song "Stronger."

In total, the suit lists 54 songs that were infringed, and now the label wants statutory damages in the amount of $150,000 for each of those infringements, not to mention other potential damages for violations of EMI's other rights

Ace Hood Talks Dropping Starvation Mixtape Tomorrow

There are dozens of platinum plaques hanging in the We The Best Studios in Miami, but rest assured DJ Khaled and Ace Hood are suffering from hunger pains. Both are hard at work on new projects. Khaled, as visible in his boastful promo that dropped yesterday (March 28), is releasing (link) his Kiss The Ring LP in the next few months and on Friday (March 30), Ace is releasing his second mixtape in less than three months, Starvation.

"My ritual is if I ain't on the road, I'm recording man," Ace revealed recently in his team's lair. "Every time I'm home I spend all my time recording. Of course [I spend time] being with my little girl. But [work] is it's based upon. I do the road and I come home and record. But I always be writing on the road. Nothing is never enough for me. I just dropped a mixtape a month and a half ago, it's not enough for me. I'm starving.Starvation ain't enough for me. Even when I dropStarvation I'm coming withBody Bags, something where I'm killing instrumentals. It's never enough. I'm at that point in my life where I'm murdering everything. Anything I come across, I'm out here getting it."
In advance of his mixtape, Hood has already dropped the songs "Hallucinations" and "Different People" featuring The Game.

"I'm back to my old saying, 'I'm grinding everyday like I ain't got a deal,'" Ace said. "You would think I didn't have a hit record. You would think I didn't have a couple of cars and a house the way that I grind. That's what keeps me focused.

Rick Ross Wins Court Case Over Freeway Ricky Ross

Rick Ross has a great reason to bellow his "hunngh" grunt now. That's because he's going to be able to keep his name.

3m360 reported that on Thursday (March 29), a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge dismissed a suit filed by former drug dealer "Freeway" Rick Ross, who tried to claim ownership of the name. "Freeway" Rick Ross was trying to take sole ownership of the name and stop the Bawse from using it, but that didn't work.

Thursday's court ruling signals a big victory for Ricky Rozay, who had to give a deposition in a Miami court back in early February on why he should own the trademark of the moniker Rick Ross.

This comes after "Freeway" Rick Ross filed a $10 million lawsuit against the rapper in May 2010, accusing him of profiting off of his name illegally. However, a judge ruled that "Freeway" couldn't sue because of his criminal rap sheet and that case was subsequently dismissed in Federal Court in November 2010.

"Freeway" Rick later appealed the decision in a state court, dragging out the case until Thursday's decision.

Currently on a European tour, Rozay didn't immediately acknowledge Thursday's victorious court ruling via his Twitter account. However, Ross has been enjoying a solid year thus far.

After suffering two separate seizures last October, the Bawse started this year off on a solid start with the release of his Rich Forever mixtape, which featured the likes of Nas, Diddy, 2 Chainz and his MMG family Meek Mill and Wale.

He's kept his sound bubbling via guest appearances, ranging from the likes of Nicki Minaj to Game.

No Malice to Pusha T: "Stop Picking on Drake"

No Malice seems to be living up to his new moniker. The older half of the Clipse wants his younger sibling, Pusha T, to stop "picking" on Drake.

During a recent interview with BET, No Malice was asked about his take on the subliminal lyrical jabs exchanged between his little brother and Drizzy. The born again Christian responded: "I want Pusha to stop picking on Drake, I like Drake. Yeah I like Drake, yo."

Last year, Pusha T released a freestyle over Drake's "Dreams Money Can Buy" instrumental, and one line in particular appeared to be a shot directly aimed at the "So Far Gone" MC. In the final verse of his rendition, the G.O.O.D. Music artist rapped, "the swag don't match the sweaters," which caused many to believe he was ridiculing Drake's eccentric sense of style.

When talk of a rumored beef between the two began to surface, Pusha T denied all accusations that the punchline was a diss directed at Drake.

In past interviews, Drake has referenced the Clipse as one of his main inspirations. When Vibe asked the Toronto native about the rumored subliminal jab, he answered: "I've been really open about my love for the Clipse. I don't know [why he dissed me], maybe that guy is bored."

In related news, No Malice is currently working on a solo mixtape entitled Hear Ye Him, and disclosed information to BET about his heavily-anticipated project.

"As far as features, you're definitely going to get The Re-Up **** of course, my brother (Pusha T), Ab-Liva definitely," he said. "I've been working with Chad from The Neptunes, and Pharrell also. Boi-1da, and myself are about to do something as well. The first single is titled Different."

No Malice also revealed that though he and Pusha are focusing on their solo career endeavors, a new, long-awaited Clipse album is already in the works.

"We're working on that now," he disclosed. "Collecting beats, writing verses, you know Pusha is everywhere right now so it's just a thing of matching up the scheduling, things of that nature. But the fans will definitely have music from Pusha and myself circulating about so we're not going to leave them empty handed."

No Malice had originally taken a hiatus from music to focus on writing his autobiography, Wretched, Pitiful, Poor, Blind and Naked, which is in stores now. The MC is also planning on adding another title under his resume as an author, a book entitled 32, which symbolizes the amount of years his manager was sentenced to prison.

21-year-old man sentenced to one year in jail for stealing cable

It’s a lesson hard-learnt for 21-year-old Abubakar Sani who was today sentenced to 12 months in jail for stealing an armoured cable.

According to agency reports, Sani was sentenced in an Abuja Upper Area Court by Justice Adamu Wakili, but was also given an out – the option to pay a N6,000 fine to skip the harsher sentence.

Police prosecutor, Sgt. Ambi Ayuba, said Sani had confessed his guilt in the crimes during investigation and was charged with joint act and theft.

Ayuba told the court the crime had been reported at the Garki Police Station in Abuja on 26 March and the convict had not been acting alone.

Two other suspects, now at large, were with Sani when the trio went into the National Stadium in Abuja and stole the armoured cable, destroying it as they attempted to cut it off.

Supreme Court sentences a PHCN staff to death by hanging

The Supreme Court on Wednesday approved the death by hanging of a security guard, Stephen Haruna working with the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) over his alleged murder of an Assistant General Manager in the Legal department of the same company, Sussana Igwe.

Following police investigations, Mr Haruna admitted killing her boss, Ms Igwe and was consequently charged with murder before an Abuja High Court.
The court found him guilty and sentenced him to death.

Supreme Court sentences a PHCN staff to death by hanging over his alleged involvement in the murder of an Assistant General Manager in the Legal department of the same company

He, however, challenged the judgment on appeal. When the Court of Appeal affirmed the High court’s decision he took the matter to the Supreme Court.
Justice Suleiman Galadima who wrote the lead judgment that was concurred by four other justices, said there was overwhelming evidence to uphold the conviction of Mr Haruna.

”In the face of overwhelming evidence against the appellant, I cannot upturn the concurrent findings of the trial court and the Court of Appeal, when the appellant has failed to demonstrate that the said concurrent findings were perverse and could not be supported, having regard to the evidence adduced by the Prosecutor,” Justice Galadima said.

He added that one of Mr Haruna’s girlfriends, Mary Jimoh, testified that the money he stole from Ms Igwe was deposited with her.

Although, the convict made three confessional statements to the police in the course of investigations, he later retracted one of them.

The justice held that even if the third statement was discountenanced, Haruna could still be and was rightly convicted. According to him, the appellant’s confessional statement was corroborated by the discovery of stolen money he took to his girlfriend at Kubwa, a suburb of Abuja for safe keep.
Veteran actor, Prince James Uche who has been battling diabetes and hypertension that left him almost bedridden for two years now is homeless at the moment.

The tough-talking actor has been kicked  out of their Gbagada, Lagos residence by his wife, Ekene  who  claimed to be tired of running the affairs of their family all alone.

The displaced actor is currently squatting in a white-garment-Church, located near his former Gbagada home in Lagos. He is calling on all well-meaning Nigerians to come to his rescue.

*James Uche

WG gathered  that Uche’s wife, a seamstress in Gbagada,  allegedly got fed up with her husband’s endless predicament after two years of single-offhandedly fending for the family, resulting in her reaching the drastic decision to throw him out of their house.

A source close to the couple said trouble started for the Abia state-born  actor, when he recently returned to Lagos after spending more than a year in his home town, in Abia State. He had gone to seek alternative solution to his protracted ailment only to return to Lagos, to meet his  wife a changed person.

He was said to be practically having  issues  with her  almost on daily basis  since stepping into their rented apartment.

“While he was sick, his wife took over the responsibility of catering for the family, including paying the children’s  school fees. So, when he returned to Lagos recently after spending more than a year in Abia State, his wife couldn’t stand him any more.

The situation forced the actor to relocate to a nearby white garment Church, in Gbagada. It was in the said Church he allegedly received healing from his illness. “The Church serves as his current abode” narrated our source.

Given his present condition, Prince Uche who has been off the screen for sometimes now, and almost impoverished following his protracted illness is calling on Nigerian to help save his marriage from hitting the rock as well as rehabilitating him. He does not want his marriage to crash because of his inability to fend for his family.

According to him, since his illness started two years ago, he has not featured in any movie, adding that his desire is to stay together with his wife to train their three children.

His words  “Í don’t want my marriage to crash. I’m once again calling on Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State to come to my rescue. He responded well by paying my hospital bill the last time I was on admission. Though God has healed me, I sincerely need help.”

Prince James Uche, two years ago was diagnosed to be suffering from diabetes and hypertension. He spend over eight months at PAX Medical Clinic located in Ijesha-Tedo, Surulere, Lagos, where  he was unable to upset his medical bills until Governor Theodore Orji  of Abia State  came to rescue, courtesy  of Saturday Vanguard reports on his predicaments.

Still recuperating from the illness, Prince Uche relocated to the eastern part of the country about a year ago to seek for alternative solution to his ordeal.  He returned to Lagos recently to reunite with his family, only to be kicked out of the home by a wife who stood by him  even  when  his condition  was unbearable.

Genesis of his ordeal could be traced to when  he collided with a BRT bus in the Anthony Village area of Lagos in 2010. The father of three children, recalled that after colliding with the bus, the next thing “I noticed was that my leg began to swell. And since the incident happened, I have visited several Churches and hospitals to no avail”.

Today what Prince Uche thought was a minor injury has surpassed his wildest dream. With no solution in sight only the aid of well meaning Nigerians can make the difference in the life of the veteran actor

Conductor jailed 10 yrs for illegal arms possession

ASABA—A Delta State High Court sitting at Akwukwu-Igbo, has sentenced a bus conductor, Augustine Nwankwo, to 10 years imprisonment for illegal possession of firearms.

The trial judge, Justice H. Akpotowho, sentenced the convict to jail with an option of  N20,000 fine, after pleading guilty to a two-count charge of illegal possession of firearms, an offence punishable under Section 3(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R.II Volume 14, Laws of Nigeria 2004.

Prosecutor, Mr. P. Okoh, told the court that the convict was arrested on December 19, 2009, at Ibusa and was in possession of one locally made pistol and one cut to size single barrel gun, and pleaded not guilty at the commencement of trial in 2010.
