Disgraced cross-country skier Therese Johaug is losing millions on her 13-month doping ban

Last week, Norwegian cross-country skier Therese Johaug received her 13-month ban by the Norwegian anti-doping agency.

The most notable financial loss for Johaug is the sponsorship deal with ski equipment company Fischer, writes Dagens Industri. 

"All our contracts contain an anti-doping clause. With regards to Therese Johaug, the clause is activated after the ruling on her ban," said Fischer in an email to Norwegian television channel TV2.

South Africans burn Nigerian homes in Johannesburg

Residents of Rosettenville in Johannesburg on Saturday, February 11,  went on a rampage burning 10 houses they allege belonged to Nigerians running drug dens and brothels in South Africa.

According to the angry residents, they said Nigerians have been running illegitimate businesses in the country.

 

Speaking to Sowetan Live, Albert Mwenza, a Malawian man and his family who were living at one of the buildings that were burnt narrated his ordeal.

'When a larger group came back, I was told to leave, but I refused. I was then forced out. Some of the people jumped over the wall into the house and stole our belongings.

'They then threw petrol bombs. Everything else that was left inside was burnt to ashes. I am sad because we are innocent and have nothing to do with drugs and brothels.'

The Treehotel now contains seven different lodgings, all in modern, Scandinavian design, seemingly hovering among the tree canopies.

That was evident when one of the highlights from the 2014 "The Lego Movie" was the appearance of the Lego Batman, a self-centered hero who did everything on his own terms and was voiced perfectly by Will Arnett. He was so popular, in fact, that once the movie came out it was obvious Warner Bros. should make a spin-off movie dedicated to Batman.

Tasked with pulling that off was Chris McKay. Known within the animation world for directing episodes of the Adult Swim show "Robot Chicken," as well as working on the visual effects and editing side of the show's "Star Wars" movies, McKay was also the editor and codirector on Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's "The Lego Movie." McKay was even in charge of the movie's animation and rendering when Lord and Miller had to go and direct "22 Jump Street."

For over a year Elina Berglund nuclear physicist has been fighting authorities and malicious headlines. Now her app will be the first in the world to be approved as a contraceptive.

“It feels incredibly exciting that there is now an approved alternative to conventional pregnancy prevention methods, and that it’s possible to replace medication with technology,” says a more than satisfied Elina Berglund, who founded Natural Cycles together with her husband Raoul Scherwizl.

The approval comes from the German inspection and certification organization Tüv Süd, which has classified the app in the medicinal category of IIb. That means Natural Cycles officially offers a new, clinically tested alternative to birth control methods such as contraceptive pills, contraceptive implants and condoms.
