Police said they died as a result of "severe blunt force head injuries".
Their dog Tyson, a Staffordshire bull terrier, was also killed.
Showers was charged with two counts of murder and pleaded guilty when he appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today.
Prosecutor Richard Pratt QC said Jade was also raped shortly before, or after she died, but Showers did not face a separate charge because it was "part and parcel" of the murder.

When reached by phone, a spokesperson for the LAPD would not confirm whether or not a warrant was being obtained, but did say that police were currently investigating an incident at Brown's home. "All I can confirm right now is that our Robbery/Homicide Division is handling incident that occurred at Chris Brown's house earlier. There's no standoff or anything, just a matter of getting our Robbery/Homicide Division guys and our PIs down there to get some more information for you guys," said the spokesperson.
Brown posted a series of videos from inside his home decrying the police and media response, saying he is innocent and that the police don't come so quickly when he contacts them about stalkers at his house.

Gene Wilder dead at the age of 83: Legendary actor who played Willy Wonka passes away after battle against Alzheimer's

Gene Wilder dead Aged 83

The legendary film actor Gene Wilder has died, his family announced Monday. Wilder's nephew said that the actor and writer died late Sunday in Stamford, Connecticut from complications from Alzheimer's disease. The frizzy-haired actor was a master at playing panicked characters caught up in schemes that only a madman such as Mel Brooks could devise, whether reviving a monster in 'Young Frankenstein' or bilking Broadway in 'The Producers'. But he also knew how to keep it cool as the boozy sheriff in 'Blazing Saddles' and as the charming candy man in the children's favorite 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory'.

Astronomers have detected an 'interesting' and possibly alien radio signal coming from a sun-like star

The Allen Telescope Array in California.
If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, goes the famous adage - and so it goes with extraordinary claims of potential alien signals.
Still, astronomers are puzzling over an incredibly powerful burst of energy that seems to have emanated from the star HD 164595, located some 94 light-years away in the constellation Hercules.
"An international team of researchers has announced the detection of 'a strong signal in the direction of HD164595,'" book author Paul Gilster wrote at his blog Centauri Dreams, noting that a Russian radio telescope called RATAN-600 detected the signal last year.
"No one is claiming that this is the work of an extraterrestrial civilization ... But the signal is provocative enough that the RATAN-600 researchers are calling for permanent monitoring of this target," he wrote. The signal's discoverers are urging the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) to take a long, hard look at HD 164595.
Seth Shostak, a senior astronomer at the SETI Institute, said that's exactly what the organization did Sunday night after it heard about the alleged signal, which was supposedly detected on May 15, 2015.

It looks like Russia hired internet trolls to pose as pro-Trump Americans

Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russia's troll factories were, at one point, likely being paid by the Kremlin to spread pro-Trump propaganda on social media.
That is what freelance journalist Adrian Chen, now a staff writer at The New Yorker, discovered as he was researching Russia's "army of well-paid trolls" for an explosive New York Times Magazine exposé published in June 2015.
"A very interesting thing happened," Chen told Longform's Max Linsky in a podcast in December.
"I created this list of Russian trolls when I was researching. And I check on it once in a while, still. And a lot of them have turned into conservative accounts, like fake conservatives. I don't know what's going on, but they're all tweeting about Donald Trump and stuff," he said.

"I've gone several months without being paid' Samson Siasia resigns from National football duty

Samson Siasia, Nigeria's Bronze winning coach at Rio 2016 has resigned from his post as head coach despite his team's heroics this summer saying he's doing so because of 'a disrespectful system'
'I have reached that point where I have to say I have had  enough, I've gone several months without getting paid, years of being derided and disrespected by the sports authorities in Nigeria but I am done already." Siasia, whose contract expires at the end of the Olympics, told BBC Sport.
It's sad that after all we went through to get to Brazil and end up winning a bronze medal, the players, coaching and backroom staff never received a 'thank you' in appreciation despite a turbulent time at the Olympics" Sisasia added.
