Africans in India living 'in fear' after killing: envoys

African students in India often complain of racial assaults

African nationals in the Indian capital live in a "pervading climate of fear and insecurity", a group of African ambassadors has said, after the brutal murder of a Congolese teacher sparked allegations of racism.
The Group of African Heads of Mission said they may recommend their governments not to send students to India until safety conditions improve, following a string of what they say are unpunished racial attacks.
In the latest case, Masunda Kitada Oliver, from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was allegedly bludgeoned to death in New Delhi on Friday night by three Indian men after an argument over an auto-rickshaw.

Suspect arrested in death of ex-coal chief executive

Ohio man fatally shot a former coal company executive at a cemetery where the businessman's wife is buried and has been arrested on a first-degree murder warrant, a sheriff said Tuesday.
A second man has also been charged as an accessory.
Authorities said Anthony R. Arriaga of Delphos, Ohio, shot Bennett K. Hatfield on Monday at Mountain View Memory Gardens, a cemetery in southern West Virginia's Mingo County.
Hatfield, 59, resigned in 2015 as president and CEO of Patriot Coal, a month before the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for the second time. He was International Coal Group's CEO when a 2006 explosion at the Sago Mine in northern West Virginia killed 12 miners.
Mingo County Sheriff James Smith didn't immediately release a motive in Bennett's death. He said state police dogs found a weapon along a river bank next to the cemetery.
Arriaga waived his right to an extradition hearing Tuesday in municipal court in Lima, Ohio, said court Chief Deputy Clerk Brenda Benedict. Bond was set at $1 million.
Allen County, Ohio, Sheriff Sam Crish said West Virginia authorities were expected to transport Arriaga back to face charges.
Authorities believe Arriaga sneaked along the river bank after the shooting and asked some neighbors to take him to Wayne County, Smith said. A man who drove Arriaga contacted authorities after hearing about Hatfield's death.
"Once he heard what was going on, he let us know he gave this subject a ride to Wayne County," Smith said.
A state police team helped track the suspect to Wayne County and eventually into Ohio.
Smith said authorities had been stumped until the neighbor stepped forward.
"We were totally lost," Smith said. "Him catching that ride helped us."
Arriaga stopped at a man's house in Wayne County, along the state's western border with Kentucky and Ohio, before moving on to Ohio, authorities.
The man, Ricky Dean Peterson, 20, told a state trooper he had no knowledge about Arriaga or Hatfield's death, authorities said. Two others at the residence told a trooper that Arriaga had been there and spoke with Peterson.

‘American Sniper’ Chris Kyle exaggerated medal count, records reveal

Newly published documents reveal that “American Sniper” Chris Kyle was not part of the elite group of U.S. fighters to earn one of the nation’s top three combat medals on more than one occasion during the global war on terrorism, as he claimed in his bestselling autobiography.
Kyle, a former Navy SEAL who was murdered by a disturbed fellow veteran in 2013, wrote that he had received two Silver Stars and five Bronze Stars. The Silver Star, the third-highest combat decoration, is awarded for gallantry in action. Being recognized for exhibiting the highest levels of battlefield heroism more than once is rare.
“Receiving two Silver Stars would have put him in a very unique and small group,” said Doug Sterner, a Vietnam veteran and author of “Restoring Valor: One Couple’s Mission to Expose Fraudulent War Heroes and Protect America’s Military Awards System.”

Profile Of Bobby Shmurda Details How Police Targeted Him

Shmurda sad
Last week, two of Bobby Shmurda’s Gs9 associates recieved sentences of 53 and 98 years. Shmurda goes to trial in September, and it’s looking more and more grim for Bobby
Or is it?
A new profile of Shmurda in GQ casts some doubt on the case against him. First, it details the extent to which he was targeted by the police.
In the piece, Shmurda’s friends say the NYPD began harassing Bobby and his crew once ‘Hot Nigga’ got big, waiting for them outside of shows.
One of the times the cops picked up Shmurda, his former manager Donny Flores went to the precinct to retrieve him. Flores reports the officers were “dancing and singing” to ‘Hot Nigga.’ “One cop was like: ‘Oh, my God, this is what my daughter is listening to?’ I didn’t know what was going on,” Flores said. “Now I know. They targeted him.”

Science Confirms That Drinking Alcohol Is Actually Incredibly Fun

Despite all the bad press booze has received over the years—that it wreaks havoc on the mind and body, that it’s steadily driving thousands of Americans to early graves—few would be surprised that, in the moment, getting drunk is actually a lot of fun. The U.S. bought roughly 30.6 billion liters of alcohol in 2015 alone, and drinking has become so ingrained in the fabric of our society that the country’s leading beer purveyor, Budweiser, is shortening its name to simply “America” this summer.
Still, what was once merely guesswork has now been proven as a fact of science: drinking makes people happy.
