You need to be earning a lot of money to afford a one-bedroom apartment by yourself in Manhattan

If you're planning to live alone and rent a one-bedroom in Manhattan, you’ll have to earn roughly $130,800 a year.

That’s 40 times the amount of September’s median monthly asking rent, which was a record $3,271, according to real estate search engine Streeteasy. Many landlords require tenants earn 40 times the rent in order to sign a lease.

Those looking in Brooklyn have to be high earners, too: median asking rents for one-bedrooms were $2,200 a month, meaning someone would have to earn $88,000 a year to pay that.

Lynn, a 35-year-old graphic designer, moved to the city 13 years ago, first to Bushwick, then to Boerum Hill, Park Slope, and Carroll Gardens, always living with friends or boyfriends.

When 3-year-old Darnal Mundy II grabbed a gun in his home and accidentally shot himself in the head, his parents thought he wouldn't survive. However, after weeks of intensive therapy, Darnal is now talking, walking and slowly regaining control of the right side of his body.

UNILAG Lecturer Who Raped Daughter’s Friend Jailed For 21 Years

Akinfolarin Baruwa, the UNILAG lecturer who was accused of raping his friend’s daughter few months ago has been jailed.

Mr Baruwa was given a 21-year jail term on Friday the 6th of November 2015.

The resident of Abesan Estate in Ipaja Lagos reportedly abandoned his first wife with 4 children before he remarried and since then he has been making one mistake after the other.

Fighting for life: James Martin suffered horrific injuries

A dad was left fighting for life after being brutally attacked by two brothers in front of his teenage son.

James Martin, 38, suffered horrific injuries when he was set upon by Grant and Graham Murray.

Mr Martin's wife Laurette, 38, posted the shocking images of her husband's injuries on Facebook after the attack in a bid to help catch the thugs, the Daily Record reported.

Grant Murray, 20, was found guilty of attempted murder after repeatedly kicking Mr Martin and stamping on him as he lay motionless on the ground.

His victim’s jaw was split in two by the force of the blows, a court heard.
