A teenager has died after accidentally shooting himself while taking selfies with a loaded gun - police have said.
Deleon Alonso Smith, 19, died of a single gunshot wound to the throat after accidentally pulling the trigger.
The young dad-of-two had been taking pictures of himself and his cousin while holding the weapon.
Police were called to his apartment in Houston, Texas, at around 1.30pm on Tuesday local time.

Texas police are scrambling to order more body cameras after deputies shoot a man who may have been surrendering


Another police-involved shooting has raised critical questions about police use of force and highlighted the necessity of police body cameras in investigating such encounters.
On Friday, a domestic disturbance call in Texas quickly escalated into a lethal confrontation with police.
During the call, two Bexar County sheriff's deputies encountered 41-year-old Gilbert Flores outside a home in San Antonio. According to Sheriff Susan Pamerleau, deputies found an injured woman and 18-month-old child inside the home.

The last six decades have been a period of rapid urbanization. More than half of the world’s population now live in cities and towns, compared to just over a third in 1955. And that figure is expected to grow to two-thirds by 2050: a projected additional 2.5 billion people living in urban areas.
At the moment around half of all urban dwellers live in cities of fewer than 500,000 inhabitants. Only one in eight live in one of the world’s 28 “mega-cities” – i.e. one with a population of more than 10 million.
