Ibro the dwarf challenges Aki and Pawpaw

Ibro as Ibrahim Musa is popularly known says he too wants a slice of what Aki and Pawpaw is getting. At least he has what it takes, height. At less than three feet, he is definitely in the league of Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme.
According to the Benue state born actor who has so far featured in a few movies, he disclosed that the duo believe that his entrance into the Nollywood industry would bring down their longtime built reputation and fame to nothing, now enraging them to ponder hatreds on him as the surviving actor. “They believe I want to take over from them, while that is not my intention. The industry is so big that it can contain whatever good talent anybody is coming with. I have received series of report from people, both on pages of newspaper on how they are biffing me,” he said.
“Not that I don’t care, but what keeps me going is the talent in me. Your talent is the determining factor, the level prominence and feed back you receive from your fans will tell you if you are trying or not. So, I keep telling them to take it easy, because they have their own fans while I have mine. I see and take them as my brothers”.
Having made his sojourn into the Nollywood industry in 2001, Ibrahim admitted that his achievement could be measured with that of when the entertainment industry took its place in the country. For him, Nollywood has changed his life, as he could boldly testify to it, “the kind of people I go out and hang out with now are mostly top business friends. Sometimes I wonder if I would have achieved the position I have gotten in life without being an actor,” he asserted

Couple deny murdering 14-year-old domestic-help

Ikeja – A couple, Elochukwu and Chiamaka Nnajiofor, on Thursday denied the allegation that they tortured their 14-year-old domestic-help, Oliver Arakwe, to death.

Nnajiofor, a trader, made the denial while testifying at their ongoing trial before Justice Lateefat Okunnu of an Ikeja High Court in Lagos.

40-year-old Elochukwu and his wife Chiamaka, 26, were charged to court on a one-count charge of murder.

The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) alleged that the woman had tortured the young boy for two days for “misbehaving”, which led to his death on Aug. 17, 2010.

However, the defendant, under cross-examination by the state Prosecutor, Mr Femi Adamson, maintained that Arakwe died of severe diarrhoea at the Eko Hospital, Surulere.

He said: “I never touched Oliver. The boy was sick and my wife called me that she had rushed him to the hospital.

“The boy was suffering from diarrhoea and later died despite the treatment given to him by the doctor”.

Nnajiofor denied the allegation that his wife had maltreated the deceased and two other boys that were staying with them at their residence located at No. 81, Femi Tella St., Ago Palace, Okota in Lagos.

“We were feeding them properly. My business of selling building materials was booming then and so we never maltreated them,” the defendant said.

Adamson, however, faulted the testimony, submitting that the post-mortem report showed lacerations on the body of the deceased.

He added that Emmanuel Azuka, one of the boys staying with the Nnajiofors, had several scars all over his body to substantiate the allegation of torture.

“The post-mortem report also said that the deceased was hit with a blunt object on his head and this caused his death and not any illness as you are claiming,” the prosecutor said.

The matter was adjourned to Nov. 13, for continuation of trial. (NAN)

Robbers raid star actor’s house in Enugu

The Enugu residence of star actor, Nkem Owoh, has been raided by yet-to-be-identified hoodlums who carted away his Mitsubishi Montero Jeep with number plate BU 64 FST, alongside other valuables.

Owoh, who was in Abuja when the robbery incident occurred, confirmed the report to our Enugu State correspondent on telephone on Thursday morning.

Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia in the Nigeria movie industry, also lost his Toshiba laptop and camcorder to the intruders, who broke into his house at Phase 6, Tran's Ekulu, Enugu.

The actor, who spoke to our reporter on phone, said: "I was in Abuja last week Saturday when my neighbours called that it was like my place was burgled, that my gate appeared to be open.

"I called my driver and asked him to make a report to the police immediately, which he did."

Owoh, who has returned to Enugu as a result of the incident, further revealed that the robbers removed the burglary roof in his window, through which they were able to remove the laptop.

Oil Minister Diezani’s Convoy Kills Nigerian Journalist

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, has expressed sadness over the death of Mr. James Momoh of Abuja based Pilot Newspapers.
Momoh was knocked down by the convoy of the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, along Nicon Junction, Maitama, late Wednesday evening on his way from work.
Reports indicated that Momoh was taken to the NNPC hospital where he later gave up the ghost after the incident.
In a statement by the Chairman of Council, Comrade Chuks Ehirim, described the death of Momoh, a production staff with the newspaper, as avoidable and unfortunate.
According to Ehirim, the tragic death of Momoh brings to fore the recklessness of government convoys and their absolute disregard for traffic rules and other road users.
The NUJ FCT chairman lamented that the minister has not demonstrated any concern and human feeling for the deceased by reaching out to his relatives. He said she was rather more bothered about protecting her image.
Ehirim warned that the union will not fold its arms and watch government officials treat human lives with levity and called for proper investigation into the matter as well as proper compensation for the bereaved family
