100-Year-Old Mysterious Package In Norway Set To Be Opened

Stocks in oil? Historical documents? A small treasure? Speculation over what might be inside a 100-year-old package that's set to be unsealed this Friday in a small town in Norway abounds, according to Verdens Gang, a Norwegian newspaper.
Verdens Gang explains that the package has been kept in a museum in Gudbrandsdal and dates all the way back to August 26th, 1912. It carries a note from a man named Johan Nygard, specifying that it is not to be opened until 2012.
There are few clues about what the package might contain. What is known is that Nygard was involved in local politics and that he reportedly walked up to the mayor and handed him the package telling him that its contents would "benefit and delight future generations," according to a video that was posted the Verdens Gang website.
The idea of leaving something of meaning behind for future generations is romantic in theory, but some time capsule-like projects have proved to be a mixed bag in terms of their significance and their ability to withstand the test of time.
A school in Michigan found a time capsule during renovations, but it included only handwritten lists with the names of faculty and students from the time it was buried, MLive.com reports.
In 1907, a group of men hid 24 records in a storage room of the Paris Opera, but they were wrapped in asbestos covered cloth so those uncovering it had to wear protective gear, according to the New York Times.
And in 2007, a concrete vault in Tulsa, Okla., which was locked half a century earlier revealed a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere. The car was unfortunately so thoroughly covered in rust, you could barely tell what color it once was.
This Friday, August 24th, residents of the town will finally find out what's inside. VGTV.no will be live broadcasting the opening of the Norway package on Friday at noon EST.
CORRECTION: In an earlier version of this article, the timing for the opening of a locked concrete vault in Tulsa, Okla., was mislabeled. It was locked half a century earlier, not half a decade.

Madonna forgives Elton John

Although Elton John’s sniped about Madonna’s latest tour, likening her style to that of a “fairground stripper,” Madge tried to take the high road at her tour stop in Nice, France, on Tuesday.

She even dedicated her song “Masterpiece” to Sir Elton, noting that “he’s a big fan of it, and I know he’s a big fan of mine.”

Fans might beg to differ, recalling the words the music legend told an Australian TV outlet earlier this month.

“She’s such a nightmare,” John said to Australia’s “Sunday Night.” “Her career’s over … and she looks like a f*****g fairground stripper.”

However, Madonna’s putting all that aside. “You know what?” she told the audience. “I forgive him. Gotta start somewhere.”

Game On Broken Engagement: 'We're Working On Us'

Game and longtime girlfriend Tiffney Cambridge have been on a roller-coaster ride of emotional ups and downs in their relationship in the last year. Back in October, Game made headlines when he staged an elaborate proposal at Cambridge's workplace, Frank D. Parent Elementary School in Inglewood, California, where he happily admitted he was throwing away his "player card" and ready to be a family man.
Nine months later, the couple unexpectedly called off their pending nuptials. The wedding was canceled along with reported plans to build a reality show around their big day. The Game himself took the blame for "not being man enough to see it through."
Now it seems as though there might be a happy ending in the works after all. When MTV News caught up with Game on Friday (August 24), he said he and Cambridge are working things out.
"The engagement, as of right now, you know what? We're just working on us," he told us from the Northridge, California, set of the music video shoot for "Celebration" (featuring Lil Wayne, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa and Chris Brown). "We're working on the family aspect, working on getting stronger as friends and trying to build a foundation and not so worried about a day or paperwork or a ring or food or flowers. [We're] just working on us, because that's the thing about it — with relationships, not even marriage — both people, everything has to be weighed evenly, or it's not going to work, so we've got work to do.

Another Kanye West tweet stirs up controversy

Kanye West seems to have perfected his act of stirring up mega controversy via micro-blogging site Twitter.
Why the social network will be happy some of polemical musings-statements are gaining thousands of retweets, can we all pause to ponder on what the US rapper/C.E.O  says that drags all that attention to his Twitter page?
Last night Kanye tweeted ‘I just f*****d Kim so hard‘, referring to his girlfriend Kim Kardashian. Yes, he tweeted that, resulting to 7,410 retweets with 39,777 of his followers ‘favourting’ the tweet. The tweet was deleted a few minutes later.
This isn’t the first time Kanye is giving out #TMI (that means ‘too much info’ for you social network starters); earlier in the month he called Kim K his ‘perfect b***h‘, weeks before that a photo of a naked woman who has a striking resemblance with Kim leaked on his page.
What’s next Kanye? A sex tape with Kim?

Kanye West deleted the tweet later on…

Mysterious hand causes stir at Church crusade

THE sudden appearance of a mysterious hand during a crusade organized at the headquarters of the Glorious Assemblies Ministries popularly known as Christ Endtime Military Academy, Calabar, Cross River State is now a subject of discussion among residents of the city.

The mysterious hand which appeared on the fourth day of the programme radiated with light and pierced through the ceiling of the church building before young boys who were part of the programme noticed it with amazement.

Though many people have insinuated many things concerning the hand, the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Timmy Larry described the hand as the hand of Jesus Christ and that a day before the mysterious hand appeared, a lady  saw a vision that a mighty hand came from behind and lifted and smashed a man.

Larry explained that “the mysterious appearance of the hand came up on the fourth day of the programme.

“ I was busy praying for people after coming out from seclusion. I was told of the hand by a Camera man, but before that event, I was talking to people about the right hand. “It was revealed that 2012 was going to be  an exceptional experience in His presence and I had told my people that the month of July was going to be a month of signs and wonders and it is the month this thing happened,” he said.

A member of the Church, Mrs. Iwatt said that the appearance of the mysterious hand as a big surprise and shock to her, adding that “this season God has visited our people greatly and I feel God has come down during the programme as a result of praise and singing. I was sure the presence of God is there.”

Another member of the Church, Princess Agnes Archibong said, “it was a surprise to me when the hand of Jesus appeared before us here even people are overwhelmed and you see the hand does not look like ordinary hand. This was a confirmation that the Lord has accepted the man of God.”

Fired worker kills boss at Empire State Building, wounds 9 others before cop shoots him

A fired worker stalked his boss down a Midtown street, shot him dead and then turned his weapon on police officers — and in the ensuing gun battle he was killed and nine pedestrians were struck, some by cop bullets, Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said today.
The 9 a.m. mayhem sent commuters and tourists in a panicked scramble from the jam-packed intersection of 34th Street and Fifth Avenue.
Bloomberg identified the shooter as Jeffrey Johnson, 53, who had been fired a year ago from Hazan Imports at 10 W. 33rd Street, around the corner from the scene.
The body of the gunman's victim, Steve Ercolino, seen on the sidewalk before police arrived at the scene.
Johnson opened fire with a .45-caliber pistol on the Fifth Avenue side of the building.
He returned there yesterday with the gun and stalked his victim, a former co-worker identified as 41-year-old Steve Ercolino.
After fatally shooting Ercolino in the head, he walked down 33rd Street with the gun concealed and was confronted by a pair of construction workers who gave chase, said Kelly.
At that point, cops on anti-terror patrol drew their weapons on Johnson and he opened fire.

“The guy has his gun out and is trying to shoot police officers,” Bloomberg said.
The cops unleashed a torrent of shots, cutting down the suspect and possibly hitting some of the nine innocent bystanders who were caught in the mayhem.
One of the victims, a woman from Woodlawn, Bronx, in her 20s, was on her way to Dunkin Donuts for her morning coffee when she heard the gunfire and realized she’d been shot.
"She saw blood and said 'Who got shot?' and then she looked down and it was her. She never saw the gunman,” said her pal, Chris Collins, a 44-year-old lab tech at NYU.
A victim is aided by a bystander after a shooting at the Empire State Building today.
“I said, ‘Erica, is that you?' She was lying on the floor bleeding. She said, ‘I don’t want to die, I hope I don’t die. I don’t want to lose my leg.’
“In the ambulance we were laughing about it on the way to the hospital. There was another man in the ambulance - he got shot in the butt.”
The victims were taken to New York and Bellevue Hospitals.
“This is the last thing you are expecting to see walking to work – someone shot dead in broad daylight in Midtown,” said Sid Dinsay, 38, who works in a PR firm on Fifth Avenue.
“I am shocked – something like this is enough to rattle your nerves. My nerves are rattled right now.”
A person was shot today outside the Empire State Building.
Dinsay said he heard noise on 33rd street and saw construction workers running on scaffolding of Empire State Building, looking down onto the street. He thought a piece of equipment had fallen.
“I saw a guy lying there covered in blood,” he said. “He was in his late 30s. People around him were crying, a police scooter was whizzing by. It was chaos.”
Austrian visitor Raphael Riegler, 19, said he heard the shots while lining up for tour boat tickets.
“Behind me the shooting started. In the middle of the street and a man in a blue jacket fell down,” he said, referring to a tour bus operator.
“Another man was shot in the foot. He tried to run run run, he fell at the bus stop.
“We ran for cover into a store. Police shot the aggressor, I hope he is dead.

“I’ve never seen anything like that.”
The FBI is assisting in the investigation, which has caused a traffic nightmare in Midtown that has effectively shut down all of the streets around the scene.
Eeerily, just minutes before the mayhem, Mayor Bloomberg was warning about the dangers of “too many guns on the streets” on his weekly radio show.
“The argument guns don’t kill people, people kill people is one of the most disingenuous things you can say,” he said shortly before 9 a.m. while discussing tougher guns laws being proposed in Albany.
“It does take a person to pull the trigger, but if they didn’t have the gun... We are the only developed country in the world with this problem.”
This is not the first time violence has taken place at the landmark.
In 1997, a gunman opened fire on the 86th floor, killing one tourist and wounding six others before fatally shooting himself

Angelina Jolie’s daughter Vivienne cast in ‘Maleficent’

Another Jolie-Pitt kid is making an entrance into the movie business.

After Shiloh’s appearance as a baby in 2008′s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” which starred dad Brad Pitt, little Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, 4, will join mom Angelina in “Maleficent.”

The upcoming Disney project is a spin on the classic “Sleeping Beauty” fairy tale, which tells the story of Princess Aurora and the evil Maleficent.

With the new, live-action version, the studio will explore Maleficent’s background and the reason she cursed Aurora, with Angelina as the titular villain.

Vivienne, who’s already been in the spotlight with twin brother Knox thanks to a People magazine cover upon their arrival in ’08, has been cast as the child version of Princess Aurora. (Elle Fanning, 14, will presumably portray the older version.)

Angelina and Vivienne’s “Maleficent” will arrive in theaters March 14, 2014.
