Man Stones Girlfriend To Death

A young man, Mr. Lawrence Ette, has been accused of stoning his 23-year-old girlfriend, Miss Rosaline Christopher, to death.
An eyewitness, who is the landlady of the deceased, Miss Dorothy Bassey, said Rosaline had a brawl with her boyfriend, before he allegedly killed her.

The tragedy was said to have occurred penultimate Sunday at 13, Academy Street, Calabar, Cross River State.
Bassey said Rosaline, who lived with her aged mother and siblings, had been in a relationship with Ette for a while.
She said because of the frosty relationship between the lovers in recent time, Rosaline’s mother stopped Ette from visiting her daughter.
“But even with the instruction from the old woman, Ette kept sneaking in to see the girl particularly at night,” she added.

It was learnt that during one of such visits penultimate Sunday, there was a misunderstanding between the lovers, which prompted the girl to ask Ette to leave.

Bassey said, “Rosaline did not know that Ette took her phone away. After some time, her younger sister, Nne, wanted to use the phone only for her to find out that the phone was missing.
“That was when she discovered that Ette had gone with the phone. Nne decided to go and look for Ette so that she can get her sister’s phone.
“But while Nne took the main exit and headed for Target Street, Ette sneaked into the house through the back door from Webber Street and Nne missed him.”

It was gathered that when Ette returned to the house, an argument ensued between the lovers resulting in a fight.
“She did not scream while they were struggling because she wanted to send him away quietly without attracting her mother’s attention but that was her mistake as Ette stepped out of the room, got a stone and hit her with it,” the landlady said.

She said when he realised that the girl was dead; Ette allegedly attempted to dispose of the body by throwing it over the fence.
Bassey said, “He carried her on his shoulder towards the backyard and was trying to throw the body over the fence. When the girl’s mother heard a strange noise at the backyard, she asked Nne to find out what it was.
“But when Nne got to the backyard, she saw Ette carrying her sister on his shoulder. Immediately he sensed that he had been sighted, he abandoned the corpse and fled.

“Since it was dark, a neighbour brought out a torch and during a search, Rosaline’s corpse was found inside the gutter.”

PUNCH Metro learnt that her corpse had been taken to the mortuary at the General Hospital, Calabar.
One of Ette’s neighbours at 10, Anating Street, Calabar, who craved anonymity, said the suspect “hurriedly came here and packed some clothes into a bag and left and has since not been seen.”
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. John Umoh, said the matter which was reported at Atakpa Police Station was being handled by the homicide unit of the police.

“It will not be long before we get him, the advisable thing for him to do is to come out of hiding now,” the PPRO said

Stallone begs for end of 'speculation'

Sylvester Stallone appealed Monday for an end to "speculation and questionable reporting" about his son's death, while police and the coroner investigate what killed Sage Stallone last week.

Sage Stallone, 36, was found dead in his Los Angeles home Friday by his housekeeper, who was asked by Stallone's mother to check on him after his lawyer and friend, George Braunstein, was unable to reach him, Braunstein told HLN's Jane Velez-Mitchell on Monday.

Sylvester Stallone, in a statement to CNN Monday, referred to celebrity news websites' speculation about his son using drugs.

"This is in reference to the speculation and questionable reporting surrounding the death of my son Sage," Stallone said. "Because when a parent loses a child there is no greater pain. Therefore I am imploring people to respect my wonderfully talented son's memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha, because this agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives. Sage was our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son's memory and soul left in peace."

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, which completed the autopsy Sunday, declined to release any preliminary findings at the request of the Los Angeles Police Department, which is conducting its own investigation, a coroner's spokesman said Monday.

It could take six weeks for toxicology tests, which would show if drug use was involved, to be completed by the coroner's lab, the spokesman said.

While the coroner is in charge of the death investigation, detectives from the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division also routinely get involved in high-profile deaths, a police spokesman said.

Sage Stallone was not known for going out to clubs and partying, Braunstein said. His vices were candy bars and soda, he said.

Sudden celebrity deaths often draw early speculation about drug involvement in Hollywood, but in several recent cases the cause of death proved to be natural.

Although the investigation into actor Corey Haim's death two years ago began as a "suspected prescription medication overdose," toxicology tests "revealed no significant contributing factors" from drugs, the coroner later concluded. Pneumonia, not drug abuse, killed Haim.

After Frank Ocean penned a letter about his sexuality several weeks ago, many members of the Hip Hop community supported the Odd Future crooner, the latest being 50 Cent. During an interview with MTV News UK, the G-Unit general said that anyone who has a problem with Ocean "is an idiot" and that he respects his creativity.

"Anyone that has an issue with Frank Ocean is an idiot," he said. "I think Frank Ocean is a talented artist, I think he's created material that made me know his name. That impressed me, with things he said on a song like 'Novacane.' I could care less about what his personal preference is in the actual bedroom."

Fif also spoke on how this represents a shift in attitudes over the past few years, crediting President Barack Obama as one of the reasons that Ocean's coming out was widely accepted. "Obama is for same-sex marriage," he said. "If the president is saying that, then who am I to go the other way."
