Now that he is president-elect, Donald Trump’s anti-corruption promise to “drain the swamp” of Washington lobbyists and powerful insiders seems to be rapidly dissolving in the swamp itself. An untold number of lobbyists and special interest players have been helping the Trump team’s transition to the White House, their path made easier, according to news reports, by vague and porous ethical standards.

The most mischievous of these is a rule by which applicants merely have to de-register as government lobbyists one day to be ready the next for transition and administration jobs. It’s not hard to imagine a lobbyist taking down his shingle on Monday and joining the Trump team on Tuesday, eager to rewrite government regulations that cover his former clients’ areas of interest.

A supercar thief stole a £97,000 Rolls Royce that a Saudi Prince kept in a Mayfair garage by fooling the DVLA into thinking he was the real owner, a court has heard. 

Mohammed Humza, 25, is said to have filed a V62 form to the DVLA claiming to own Sheikh Mohammed Alibrahim's Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe.

The prince claims only he and his chauffeur were allowed to get behind the wheel and says the driver inspected the car, which was kept in a garage in central London, every week.

Humza allegedly fooled the DVLA with the bogus V62 form and ordered new keys for the saloon.

According to charges he later sold it to Shaks Specialist Cars in Huddersfield for £27,500 with a Blue BMW 5 Series and a White Mercedes-Benz A Class as part of the deal.

Sheikh Alibrahim says he was unable to reply to the DVLA on whether the ownership had changed because he was abroad.

Humza also faces charges for telling the DVLA he was the lawful owner of a Porsche 911 belonging to Nicholas Cattelian, a Ferrari California belonging to Sara Duncan, and an Aston Martin DB9 belonging to Jake Urich.

He denies any wrongdoing and claims he had a 'legitimate right' to Sheikh Alibrahim's Rolls Royce.

Humza appeared at Southwark Crown Court wearing a grey Hugo Boss sweater and smart trousers.

He spoke only to identify himself and to deny five counts of fraud by false representation and one count of conspiring to steal a motor vehicle.

Judge Anthony Leonard QC said the trial will begin in the week beginning February 27 at Southwark Crown Court.

Denver becomes first city in America to allow weed/marijuana use in bars and restaurants

Marijuana loving residents in Denver have officially voted for a 'first in the history of the United States' law that allows residents to smoke weed in bars and restaurants but they must first of all get the approval of neighbors.

According to a report by NBC News, the law takes effect immediately but businesses like bar spots and restaurants would have to show they have neighborhood approval before they can get weed license.

Jay Maynor, 43, gunned down Raymond Earl Brooks in 2014 - a decade after the 59-year-old convicted child molester was released from jail.

This week, he admitted murdering Brooks as part of a plea deal so his daughter, Julia Maynor, wouldn't have to testify, according to local media.

Ms Maynor, now a 24-year-old mum of three, was abused by Brooks - her adopted maternal grandad - for several years until she was eight years old.

Speaking after her dad was sentenced to 40 years behind bars on Monday, she said he was an 'amazing father' who had been 'protecting' her.

Nick Gordon ordered to pay $36 million for wrongful death of Bobbi Kristina

Nick Gordon who was the boyfriend of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown's has been ordered to pay $36 million to her estate after being found liable for her death. A judge on Thursday, agreed with Bobby Brown that his daughter was a star in the making and had unlimited earning potential and issued the ruling. Bobby told the court:

"She was an entertainer. If you were around her all could do was laugh. She told a lot of jokes,"  "She was always the life of the party... She was the life of anywhere she went. Anybody she was around definitely enjoyed her company." "I know she had the talent to be successful."

Adding that he believed that Nick was responsible for her death.

Nick was not present in court and hadn't been through the course of the wrongful death trial.

The judge broke down the high dollar amount, awarding $15 million for her net worth and future potential income. He also awarded $13 million for "pain and suffering." $1.5 million and punitive damages of $250,000 for stealing funds after Bobbi's estate accused Nick of regularly transferring funds from her account to his account, including $11,000 after she'd fallen into the coma on Jan. 31, 2015.

Two schoolchildren live-streamed themselves in a shootout with police before turning their guns on themselves.

The 15-year-olds were found dead inside a house in the northwestern Russian Pskov region after the standoff. 

The boy, named Denis Muravyov, had shot the mother of the girl, who was named Katya, in the leg during a row about attending a sleepover.

The chilling footage was filmed as police surrounded the house they were in.

In one horrifying sequence, Katya is seen holding a gun to Denis's head.

In his final post, on Russian social media site VK, Denis wrote: 'I loved you, but you do not notice how you destroyed my mind and life.

An ageing population and better diagnosis of the condition has led to dementia and Alzheimer's knocking ischaemic heart disease from the top spot, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Of the 529,655 deaths registered in England and Wales in 2015, 11.6 per cent were attributable to dementia or Alzheimer's.

Among those aged 80 or over, dementia and Alzheimer's accounted for 13.7 per cent of male deaths and 21.2 per cent of deaths among women.

Meanwhile, the mortality rate for dementia and Alzheimer's has more than doubled over the last five years, the figures show.

Missing Kenyan principal found dead in a dam

Solomon Mwangi, the Principal of Kiru Boy Secondary School in Kenya who went missing last week has been found dead in a dam. According to Nairobi Wire, the principal had failed the collect examination papers for the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education from the Murang’a county commissioner’s office on Monday, November 7, 2016, which led to police declaring him missing after several days of searching for him.


Police report says Mr.Mwangi was strangled and dumped in the Weteithie dam at Juja before his body was discovered at the City Mortuary on Sunday, November 13, 2016.

China jails 49 people over fatal Tianijin chemical warehouse blast that killed over 165 people (Photos)

 49 people including 25 managers and 24 employees of Ruihai Logistics in China have been sentenced to jail in connection with an explosion at a chemical storage facility in China, that killed over 165 people, most of them firefighters and police officers in August 2015.

The Court on Wednesday ruled that Yu Xuewei, chairman of Ruihai International Logistics, paid bribes to obtain permission to illegally store more than 49,000 tonnes of sodium cyanide and other highly toxic chemicals at the company’s warehouse in the city’s port area between 2013 and 2015.

The court found the management guilty of carelessness and said the company ignored safety rules and violated municipal planning, as the massive heart wrenching explosions left scenes of devastation in the northern port city of Tianjin- a disaster the people of Tianjin haven't still gotten over, more than a year after it happened.

The people who died from the explosions included 99 firefighters and 11 police officers, who were not informed of the presence of the 800 tonnes of ammonium nitrate. Another 798 people were injured, largely because Ruihai international logistics illegally built its warehouse too close to their apartments.

The owner of the company, Yu Xuewei, has been sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve while officials and employees were handed jail terms of between 3-7 years for dereliction of duty and abuse of power.

E-cigarette flavourings contain high amounts of cancer-causing chemicals and 'exceed recommended levels'

Flavoured e-cigarettes contain dangerous levels of cancer-causing chemicals, scientists claim.

Toxic compounds are already known to form as a result of the gadget's rapid heating process, known as pyrolysis.

But new research has discovered flavoured liquids are creating high amounts of aldehydes - exceeding health limits.

Consuming or inhaling them, even in small amounts, has been linked to increased risk of cancer and heart disease. 

The findings are a cause for concern due to the 8,000 flavours available on the market - with some designed specifically to attract young adults.

Flavourings used in e-cigarettes were previously found to be mostly the same as those used in foods and have therefore passed safety tests.

However, this applies to them being eaten rather than inhaled.   

Researchers from the Desert Research Institute, Nevada, measured concentrations of 12 aldehydes in aerosols produced by three common e-cigarette devices.

To determine whether the additives affected chemical production during vaping, five different flavours were tested in each device. Two unflavoured e-liquids were also used.

Real-life vaping was stimulated in each device through a four-second, 40-ml puff and 30-second resting period between each puff.

They discovered liquids with higher flavour content produced higher amounts of the aerosols due to the pyrolysis process.

Villagers kill GIGANTIC swollen snake they thought had eaten livestock... only to discover it was filled with scores of eggs

Locals who killed a huge snake after suspecting it of having eaten a calf because of its swollen stomach discovered it was pregnant with dozens of eggs.

The incident happened in Nigeria where local media said the snake had been killed over accusations it had been feasting on farmers’ livestock.

However as these images show, the snake was not overweight because of its last meal, it was actually pregnant.

fter being cut open, dozens of eggs were found and removed by locals who regard them as a rare delicacy. 

Although it was not clear what sort of snake it was, many snakes can produce up to 100 eggs at a time.

Online commentators seem to have little sympathy with the snake, with most pointing out that it was a good thing that around a hundred baby snakes would no longer be born.

Judging by the size of the snake, which appears to be almost a foot wide and several metres long, it looks like an anaconda. 

But with the species of anaconda restricted to South America, it is likely the pictured snake is an African rock python.

'He Is Not My President': Donald Trump Inspires Thousands to Protest in Streets Across U.S.

Thousands of protesters swarmed the streets of several major cities Wednesday to voice their opposition to Donald Trump, who less than 24 hours earlier stunned the world to become the 45th person elected president of the United States.

Protesters in Chicago chanted "Not my president" and "F--- Trump" outside Trump International Hotel & Tower in what seemed like a grand uprising — one in which minority groups that have felt targeted by Trump over the past 18 months hoped to send a direct message to the president-elect.

"I'm here today because I'm speechless at what happened," Rebecca Gomez, 22, told NBC News. "I'm Mexican, but I was born in the United States. I'm afraid people won't care about that, though. I'm afraid they will be violent."

In New York, thousands of protesters could be heard chanting and banging drums as they marched past Rockefeller Center up Sixth Avenue, barely even acknowledging the rain.
