Lady Gaga plans to take a "very long" break from speaking, or even paying attention to, the media.

She chose to make the announcement of her hiatus to Oprah Winfrey, in an "Oprah's Next Chapter" interview to air Sunday. The interview also features the singer's mother, Cynthia Germanotta.

"Other than this interview, Oprah, I do not intend to speak to anyone for a very long time," explains Gaga. "No press, no television."

The eccentric singer added that she has already stopped paying attention to what is written about her.

"Even if my mom calls and says, 'Did you hear about ...' I shut it all off," she said. "I don't read a damn thing."

Ever since the singer, whose given name is Stefani Germanotta, appeared on the scene with "Let's Dance" in 2009, it seemed the public could not get enough of her dramatic costumes and outspoken interviews.

However, she has slipped from the center of the radar screen in recent months, even as "Born This Way" was nominated for three Grammys.

Her mother admits in the interview she and her husband didn't know what to make of their daughter's act at first.

Her mother says, "When Gaga started performing -- I think it was at Joe's Pub downtown -- she was in a bikini performing with Lady Starlight. She decided that night to actually light hairspray on fire. A lot of people left, and a lot of people stayed and thought it was cool. Her father said, honestly, 'I think she has a screw loose.'"

Wande Cole set to quit Mo Hits

Wande Coal will be the next person to quit Mo’hits. According to what we gathered, Wande Coal is planning to move on with his life under a new record label.
Before now, there have been different reports about the Bumper to Bumper crooner quitting Mo’hits, the label that helped him to stardom.

Wande Coal, we learnt, is also avoiding the press, believing that this is a critical moment for him to grant any interview. He doesn’t want to be involved in the cold war that has already started between Dbanj and Don Jazzy.
It would be recalled that D’Banj and Don Jazzy founded the most successful record label in Nigeria, Mo’hits in 2005 when they returned from their sojourn in the UK.
Within a short period, the label became a household name with array of stars like Wande Coal, Dr Sid, D’Prince and K-Switch.

Mike Tyson eyes Broadway with one-man show

The Baddest Man on the Planet is dreaming about Broadway.
Before his one-man show has even opened in Las Vegas, former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is already looking to take it to New York, according to TMZ.

He will perform "Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth -- Live on Stage" at MGM Grand's Hollywood Theatre in Las Vegas from April 13-18, and is waiting to see how ticket sales go before planning a tour.

If a tour does go ahead, the Big Apple would be the main stop.
According to the report, Tyson has "always wanted to do a show on Broadway, and he feels this could be his chance."

George Clooney and Father Released After Arrests at Sudanese Embassy

George Clooney and his father were released from jail Friday after being arrested earlier in the day as they protested outside the Sudanese Embassy in Washington, D.C.
The actor, who most recently starred in "The Descendants," described the incident as "my first arrest and let's hope it's my last." He told reporters following his release that he had paid a fine but did not specify the amount.

Clooney was arrested as he protested Sudan's blockade of food and aid. His father, Nick Clooney, Martin Luther King III, four Democratic members of the House of Representatives and NAACP President Ben Jealous were also among those arrested Friday.

"We had fun," the actor joked after his release. "We were all in a cell together. It was nice."
But he was deadly serious when he discussed the situation in Sudan, saying, "We are trying to bring attention to an ongoing emergency."
"Our job right now is to bring attention to it," he said. "One of those ways was apparently getting arrested. We hope that people understand that there really is a ticking clock on this and we really need to get moving."

Clooney and the other protesters assembled Friday morning outside the Sudanese Embassy, where they were warned three times not to cross a police line outside the building on Washington's Embassy Row.

When they refused to obey, they were placed in plastic handcuffs and put in the back of a US Secret Service van.
A Secret Service spokesman told FOX News Channel they were taken to the Metropolitan Police Second District for processing on charges of disorderly crossing of a police line.

Clooney, a longtime activist for human rights in Sudan, said before his arrest that he wanted to draw attention to the need for humanitarian aid there.
"We need humanitarian aid to be allowed into the Sudan before it becomes the worst humanitarian crisis in the world -- immediately," Clooney said to cheering supporters, according to AFP.
"The second thing we are here to ask is a very simple thing -- it's for the government in Khartoum to stop randomly killing its own innocent men, women and children," Clooney said.

"Stop raping them, and stop starving them. That's all we ask."
The Enough Project, which organized the gathering, released a statement saying Clooney and the others were arrested for protesting "the escalating humanitarian emergency in Sudan that threatens the lives of 500,000 people."

Texas mom charged with slashing son’s throat to release 'demons

A Texas woman was arrested early Saturday after allegedly slashing her 5-year-old son's throat because she believed there were demons inside his body.

Daphne Spurlock, 45, now faces a charge of attempted capital murder, the Magnolia Police Department said in a press release.
Officers made the discovery shortly after 12:00 a.m. while conducting a welfare check on the boy at Spurlock's mobile home in Magnolia, about 45 miles northwest of Houston.
The boy's father had contacted police fearing that his son was dead.

When police arrived on the scene, they found the child, whose name was not released, with head and chest injuries from being stomped on by Spurlock.
She told officers that she was attempting to release demons from her son's body, then used a kitchen knife to slit his throat and stab him in the face multiple times, according to the press release.

The boy was flown to a Houston hospital to undergo emergency surgery. He was listed in critical condition Saturday afternoon, though family members told KTRK-TV that he was stable after the extensive surgery.

Cop Caught Having Sex in Squad Car

Memphis, TN) - 3m360 has learned there's a copy of the radio broadcast that captured an on-duty cop allegedly having sex in his squad car. That recording is now part of an open investigation by the police department. It will be released at some point.

Sergeant Karen Rudolph says every Memphis Police Officer is given two modes of radio communication: a shoulder microphone that stays with them and a console mic that stays in their squad car.

"Rather than picking up the phone, we use what's given to us with our consoles and microphones. A lot of times it's our life lines," she said.

There's no word yet on which microphone our sources say broadcast Officer Dion Anthony having sex in his squad car while on duty. But there is a recording because Sgt. Rudolph says every radio communication is recorded.

"Anytime you communicate via a handheld or console microphone you want to remain professional. Our job is to make sure all officers follow procedures. In this instance it's possible he didn't follow proper procedure," Rudolph said.

Anthony joined the force back in July 2007. He works the 2pm to 10pm shift out of the Mount Moriah precinct. The controversial broadcast of him having sex in his squad car went out between 8:45 and 9pm Monday night. Our sources say it was on an open channel that could be heard by not only the 30 to 35 officers working that precinct. But by anybody with a police scanner.

"The allegations do surround inappropriate communications through either his handheld or console mic," said Rudolph.

We still don't know the woman in question. Anthony was relieved of duty Tuesday while the department investigates. At last check Friday an MPD hearing on th
e matter has not yet been set.

Senator robbed at gunpoint by his driver

• Loses N8m, vital documents
A Senator from one of the states in the South-south zone was on Friday robbed at gunpoint by his driver, who made away with N8million cash.
Also taken away by the driver was the senator’s briefcase containing vital career documents including his international passport and that of his wife.

The loss of the passport thus scuttled a planned trip to China by the victim. The police are investigating.
The driver, it was gathered, was primarily a member of the six-man team in the transport pool of the Senator.
But having sent his principal driver on a mission outside Abuja, the Senator turned to the suspect whose name was given as Muhammed.

Muhammed was assigned to drive the Senator to the Chinese Embassy and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
“Everything went well from the embassy until when they were approaching the airport gate and he decided to pick his travelling documents from the briefcase only to discover that N1million was missing.
“Before the discovery, the Senator had N4million cash and $25, 000 in his briefcase. I think he wanted to conduct some transactions in Naira in Lagos.
“Worried by the missing N1million, the Senator asked the driver what went wrong but he was just mumbling. Out of curiosity, the Senator placed a call to his son and key aides to know whether there was any urgent demand that warranted the removal of N1m from his briefcase. They all denied knowledge of tampering with the briefcase.

“He asked the driver to make a U-Turn from the airport to his residence in Jabi District. But while on the highway the driver drew a gun and asked the Senator to go down or lose his life.
“The bewildered Senator complied and raised the alarm but most motorists ignored him even as he kept shouting ‘help, help me’. His predicament was compounded by the fact that the driver did not allow him to pick any of his handsets from the car.”
After trekking for a while, the Senator was assisted by a good Samaritan to get home.
Investigation revealed that when a call was later placed to the driver, he asked three aides of the Senator-one Ada, Fred (a co-driver) and Osaze to go to an Estate along Jabi -Karimo axis to go and pick the car.
Another source added: “When the aides got there with some detectives, they met the car unlocked and the key put in the pigeon hole. He also left the international passports of the Senator and his wife on top of the car.

“But the briefcase containing the money and documents had been taken away. When he was asked about the whereabouts of the briefcase, the driver, who was suspected to be within the vicinity of the estate, said he left it in the car.”
The driver has since switched off his phone to prevent being trailed with the aid of GPRS by security agencies. The distraught Senator was said to have relocated to his constituency instead of proceeding with his trip to China.
The source added: “The Senator has never used the driver for any assignment. Friday was the first time he asked Mohammed to take him to the airport. The driver used to run local errands for the family.
“In fact, as if the Senator’s wife had a premonition, she is always driving herself anytime she is in Abuja.”

23-year-old arrested for attempted robbery and murder

The Police CID has arrested a 23 year old driver of Jimon Pharmaceuticals at Abelemkpe for attempted robbery and murder.

Briefing the press at the CID headquarters, the Director-General of the CID, COP Prosper Kwame Agblor said the suspect, Isaac Ofori who was employed as the Director’s personal driver engaged the services of someone (name withheld for security reasons), to recruit assassins to kill the Company’s director, Zheng Jinsong and steal an amount of GH¢700,000.

The robbery was to take place on March 1 2012 after Isaac had paid his recruits an amount of GH¢100, but they were arrested by the Police.

Isaac Ofori was arraigned before court on March 7 2012 and has since been remanded in prison custody.

In a related development, some employees and a Director of Onward Investment Ghana have also been arrested by the Police CID for operating a financial institution without license.

Authorities at the Bank of Ghana who reported the case to the CID explained that the Directors of Onward Investment applied for a Forex Bureau license but they were not granted the license.

COP Prosper Agblor said the company went ahead to operate as an investment company taking deposits from the public and paying an interest of 35 percent.

Among those arrested so far are the Operations Manager for the Kumasi branch of the company, Evans Nunoo, 28, the Accounts Manager for the Accra branch, Richard Samah, 28 and the contractor and Director of the company, Alexander James Mills, 40.

The rest are Hubert Attah Appiah, 21, a cleaner who was arrested when he was instructed to take an amount of $118,000 from Accra to Kumasi and Michael Bassey Etim, 39, the Company’s Forex Trainer and on-line trader.

The owners and some directors of company are however on the run.

They include three Nigerians, Okone Bassey, General Manager; Michael Johnson, Owner, Prince Nwuoma Essien, Senior Manager, and four other Ghanaians, Timothy Akwasi Ababio, Marketer; Mohammed Baba Saleh, Accountant; Simon Yaw Nyarko, a teacher and Lawrence Mensah, a businessman.

The CID is cautioning the public to be weary of fraudsters who promise attractive interests which is far beyond what legitimate banks can offer on savings.

Police Arrested 11 Suspected LASU Student Who are a Member of Eiye Confraternity

The Lagos State Police Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, has arrested eleven cult members who claimed to be students of the Lagos State University, LASU.

They were nabbed at Ijanikin, a suburb of Lagos along Lagos/Badagry Expressway, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.
A police source told us that two members of Eiye Confraternity had hired a commercial motorcyclist (okada rider) to take them to Ijanikin where they shot a rival cultist, a member of Aiye Confraternity.

The okada rider, after the shooting, contacted SARS operatives who arrested the suspect’s accomplice identified as Wasiu.The cultist, who fired the shot managed to escape, but Wasiu led policemen to the hideout of the cultists at Ijanikin, where other cult members were arrested, the police source revealed.

According to the source, items recovered from the suspected cultists include three locally made cut to size rifles, one black bag, one locally made pistol, one live cartridge, four axes, one cutlass, one black beret and one phone.

Those arrested include Amos Acholo, 25, an indigene of Kogi State who claimed to be a businessman but a part-time student of LASU; Ojo Ola-Oluwa, 28, from Osun State, Olupooye Foluso, 27, claimed to be a student of Political Science at LASU, Haruna Olanrewaju, 28, from Kwara State said he is not a LASU student but joined the cult because he is jobless and Ismail Alli, 24, claimed he is a businessman from Sokoto State and he dropped out of school.

Others are: a 23-year old Malian, Jiba Abdulahi who said he is into business; Adeyinka Phillips, 25, claimed to be a Lagos State indigene and a student of Computer Science at Lagos State Polytechnic; Edeh Michael said he attended Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin while another suspect, Irikivewe Charles told the police he is still struggling for admission.

Another member of the cult group, Udemeobong from Cross River State, said he is a 200 level student at LASU. He confessed to the police that he was initiated into the cult last year when he visited his friend in Benin City, Edo State.
Police sources told us this morning that the suspected cultists will soon be arraigned in court on charges of attempted murder.

Meanwhile, the victim who was shot by the suspects is still lying critically ill in an undisclosed hospital. He was said to be having a swollen stomach perhaps caused by bullets lodged in his belly.

When we called the Public Relations Officer, of LASU students’ union, Teju Azeez, this morning, he disowned the suspects, saying “they are not LASU students.”

Army nabs uniform-selling corporal

A police corporal identified as Reuben Joel, attached to the anti-terrorism unit of the Nigeria Police Force in Aba, Abia State has been paraded by officers of the Nigeria Army for selling military uniforms.

Joel was arrested at a military checkpoint in Mubi with ten uniforms and ten pairs of military boots.

His accomplices, who were also arrested, confessed during interrogation that Joel supplied them with the military uniforms which were to be taken to Hong local government area, Adamawa state.

The military spokesman, lieutenant Victor Olukoya, expressed surprise that a serving corporal in Aba would be involved in illegal sale of military uniforms in Adamawa State.

He said the arrest has unravelled the mysteries behind attacks on police checkpoints and banks by men in military and police uniforms.

"It is obvious that these are the people attacking police checkpoints and banks with regalia of the military and police. It portends that we have desperate people willing to go to any extent to maim innocent lives," Olukoya said.

He appealed to Nigerians to assist the military in its effort to combat criminality by submitting themselves to checks at checkpoints.

Don Jazzy confirms MoHits split

We finally get to hear from the CEO of MoHits Records himself, Don Jazzy. On Saturday morning, Don Jazzy took to twitter and confirmed that some of the media reports that have been making the rounds about him and D'banj going their separate ways is true.

It will be recalled that Daily Times first reported news of their split about ten days ago but the D'banj camp had consistently denied it.

Don Jazzy started out by saying he's going through some changes in his life and the way forward is to make more beautiful music. He then went ahead to say he will be donating his proceeds from the old era to 5 different charity organisations.

After what has looked like a passive feud time for Hip-Hop in Nigeria, things are heating up once again. No Thanks to rappers Vector and Reminisce.

Just two weeks ago, Remilekun ‘Reminisce’ Safaru and Olanrewaju ‘Vector’ Ogunmefun were at each other’s throats throwing verbal attacks back and forth.

The story goes that Vector had dropped a subliminal diss on Sauce Kid’s ‘Street Kitchen’ reacting to a previously released song by Reminisce titled ‘2 mushh’.

‘Eyin ata, ani Tomato, to ma to’ (You are pepper, we have tomato to cool down the pepper)’, Vector took jabs at Reminisce who had talked about his song being ‘hot like pepper’. In a swift response, Reminisce released ‘Ata (pepper)’ taking it a step further by sampling Vector’s subliminal and then going on to call out his name while dissing him back.

Vector responded on Twitter ‘I sow the truth, why would I reap lie? (Reply)’.

Discussions have popped up on Twitter and Facebook, as fans have begun drawing comparisons between both rappers; others are trying to figure out the genesis of the ‘beef’.

‘Fellyx And Mozzyx’ Star in Critical Condition, Loses Both Kidneys

A few weeks ago, we reported that Moses, one half of the popular 90′s music duo FELLYX & MOZZYX was critically ill after being diagnosed with chronic kidney failure and some other complications.

Sadly, his situation may have worsened as those cloese to him say his two kidneys have packed up, with the level of damage nearing its final stage.

Moses urgently needs a kidney transplant as undergoing dialysis has become very risky.

The ailing musician is however still hopeful; believing fervently that God has already healed him, according to those close to him. In some of his hospital pictures, his guitar is even seen close to his bed. We’re told he plays it once in a while.

Thai Taxi Driver Returns $410,000 in Gold to Owner

A Thai taxi driver Friday returned 8.2 kilograms (18 pounds) of gold ornaments worth around $410,000 to their owner who had left them in his car three days ago, police said.

Bangkok cabbie, Saksri Ketsrikaew, 56, said he spent two days driving around Bangkok searching for the owner because he had no contact number, reports AFP.

He said he contacted community radio after he learned gold shop owner, Eakerat Kanokwattana, 60, had filed a complaint with police and the story of the missing gold hit local headlines.

But police were not convinced he had a heart of gold.

"His excuse doesn't make sense if he intended to return the gold to its owner as he knew where they got off," case officer Lieutenant Colonel Udom Sukprasert told AFP.

"They are checking and counting the gold now."

Eakerat, who owns a gold shop in the city of Ubon Ratchathani, came to Bangkok with his wife to do a gold trade in Chinatown and got a taxi on Tuesday evening to the northern outskirts of Bangkok.

But he later realised he had left his bag full of gold ornaments in the taxi and offered a reward for their return.

Television news Friday showed a relieved Eakerat giving the taxi driver gold worth around $6,400 as his reward.

Panic in Lagos over Bomb in Ikeja

There was panic in Lagos Friday evening over suspicion that an explosive had been planted in a building in the Ikeja area of the state.

The bomb was allegedly planted in Awolowo House on Obafemi Awolowo Road, Ikeja.

It is located close to the bridge in Ikeja.

The building was immediately evacuated, with the vicinity cordoned off. Pedestrians and motorists were told to make use of alternative routes.

But the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Jaiyeola Joseph, said there was nothing to worry about.

Joseph said that the rumour started after a man dropped a carton around the building and left.

He said some people raised the alarm that it must be a bomb, hence the panic.

The Police Bomb Disposal Squad was immediately despatched to the scene.

Nothing deadly was found, Joseph told Eagle Online.

But don’t think she’s in any rush to put her amazing career on hold. “I want to experience that, [but] not yet,” she explained.

Settling down like that right now would drastically change everything about Gaga, and I think all of us can agree that with how successful she is, now isn’t the time to be putting her music career on hold (or giving it up all together) to start a family. I’m sure it’ll happen eventually, though!

FOR THE 7TH ANNUAL NEA AWARDS

New York, NY. March 15, 2012 – The organizers of the Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) are calling on all members of the entertainment industry to begin submitting their work(s) in order to be considered for nominations, and ultimately awards in the upcoming 2012 NEA Awards.

It is that time of the year again, when members of the entertainment industry are given the opportunity to be celebrated, and recognized by the NEA and their fans both at home in Nigeria and abroad. Between now and April 27th, the NEA will be compiling work released into market, radio stations and online media over the past year (March 2011 – March 2012), for consideration in the different award categories.

Interested entertainers can be residents of any country, but must be wholly or partially Nigerian in other to be considered eligible. The Pan African awards are the only awards open solely to Non-Nigerian African entertainers. The awards are divided into 3 main categories and are listed below:

George Clooney ,Father Arrested in Protest at Sudanese Embassy

Hollywood movie star George Clooney has been arrested at Sudan's embassy in Washington at a protest about the escalating emergency in Sudan.

The Sudanese government has been blocking humanitarian aid from reaching a volatile border region where hundreds of thousands of people are short of food.

Clooney, his father Nick and other activists ignored three police warnings to leave the embassy grounds and were led away in plastic handcuffs to a waiting van by uniformed members of the Secret Service, a journalist covering the demonstration said.

"We need humanitarian aid to be allowed into the Sudan before it becomes the worst humanitarian crisis in the world," Clooney told reporters just before his arrest.

"The second thing we are here to ask is for the government in Khartoum to stop randomly killing its own innocent men, women and children. Stop raping them and stop starving them. That's all we ask."

Clooney, who on Wednesday was a guest at the White House banquet in honour of British prime minister David Cameron, posted bail with several others and walked free later on Friday.

"You never know if you are accomplishing anything ... We hope it helps," Clooney told reporters after his release, adding that the arrest was his first and "let's hope it's my last".

Activists have drawn parallels between the current crisis in Sudan's Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile provinces with the violence almost a decade ago in the western region of Darfur, where Khartoum sparked international condemnation by violently suppressing a rebellion in a conflict that the United Nations estimates killed some 300,000 people.

The United States has voiced serious concerns about the deteriorating conditions in the border region, where Sudanese troops are fighting rebels aligned with its newly independent neighbour South Sudan.

Clooney, who recently visited the area, told a Senate hearing this week that Sudan's forces were launching repeated attacks on unarmed civilians and preventing aid from reaching a region where US officials say as many as 250,000 people face severe food shortages.

Clooney, a long-time celebrity activist critical of the Khartoum government, had been expected to provoke police into arresting him.

Protest organisers said that others arrested on Friday included several US congressmen, the son of slain US civil rights hero Martin Luther King Jr, and veteran human rights campaigner John Prendergast, the co-founder of the Enough Project.
