It: Chapter 2 release date, trailer, cast, and everything else you need to know

Pennywise is back for 2019 in It: Chapter 2, and in the 27 years set between the original It movie and the sequel the sociopathic clown monster has not chilled out one bit. It: Chapter 2 sees the cast of the original and director Andy Muschietti return, and they're joined by an impressive line up who will play the Losers Club members as adults. The It: Chapter 2 release date is set for September 6, 2019.

Stephen King fans will know what to expect from It: Chapter 2, but if you didn't battle your way through the source text as a teenager, here's what's coming. We'll see the Losers Club as adults, called back to Derry 27 years after the events of the original film, and forced to confront Pennywise all over again. As you can probably tell from the casting, the action will flick between the past and present - with the child stars getting a second chance to shine.

The It: Chapter 2 cast is straight out of my dream journal, with Jessica Chastain as Beverley Marsh, James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough, and Bill Hader as the adult Richie Tozier. The cast has been sharing shots of filming on Instagram and anecdotes on talk shows, including Chastain telling The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon "there's a scene and someone said on set that it's the most blood that's ever been in a horror film in a scene. I can tell you the next day I was pulling blood out of my eyeballs, like, fake blood."
