Lil Poopy - the 13-year-old rapper who became famous aged 9 for his raunchy videos about money and hoes - lands Sony-Epic record deal

The young rap sensation, who featured on Lifetime's The Rap Game earlier this year, gained notoriety aged nine when he appeared in a music video where he called himself a 'cocaine cowboy'

He may just be 13-year-old but Lil Poopy - the pint-sized rapper famous for singing about hoes and cocaine aged just nine, has landed his first record deal.
Lil Poopy, whose real name Luis Rivera Jr., has signed a four-year deal with Sony-Epic label which boasts big name artists such as Outkast, Timbaland, P. Diddy and Jennifer Lopez.
The young rap sensation gained notoriety aged nine when he appeared in a music video where he called himself a 'cocaine cowboy' as he rapped about money, hoes and kissed fistfuls of cash.

He mostly raps about girls and money.
'I got money in the bank I could take a loss or two,' he raps in one song. 'Ridin' in the back seat 'cause that's what bosses do. Filet mignon plus I'm eating lobster too'

It also showed the youngster spanking a grown woman's behind, as he sang about being a 'bad boy' and a 'coke boy' and plans to 'make a girl my groupie.'
The video shocked parents across the country and even prompted a child abuse investigation, Enterprise News reports.

Luis Rivera Snr., the Massachusetts father of Lil Poopy, was hit with the charges in February 2013 after authorities claimed the boy's sexually suggestive videos, amounted to child abuse.
But Rivera argued his son was merely acting in the videos, where he is featured slapping women's behinds, riding in a Ferrari, throwing wads of cash in the air and dancing with girls twice his age.
His father likened the boy's spanking gestures to the way that baseball players commend each other during a game.

'When you hit a home run, when you go to the bleachers, they tap you on the butt,' Rivera said. 'He's not doing anything wrong.'
The charges against Rivera were later dropped.
'The kid's got talent, why are they so worried about him rapping?' his father asked at the time. 'Everybody's got a dream. Muhammad Ali wanted to be a boxer. The kids on 'American Idol' want to do country or rock. He's doing what he wants to do, you can't knock him for that.'
Three years later and his son, who featured on Lifetime's The Rap Game earlier this year, has been signed to the major record label run by L.A. Reid.
'All of the older people – older friends – always underestimated me,' Lil Poopy said. 'They like me now. ... I just want them to know that I'm coming for the top. They better be ready.'
His manager Devon Sydney, who helped manage Salt-N-Pepa, said Poopy was very mature and confident for his years - as well as being something of a hit with the ladies.

'They think he is the cutest, most adorable thing on the planet,' he said of Poopy's young female fans.
'When I look at other people of equal age, I can't imagine seeing them standing on stages as he has been on so comfortably,' Sydney added. 'He likes music. He likes doing what he's doing. ... His career is going to be fine as long as he wants to do it.'
Lil Poopy was destined for stardom - earning his stage name when he was still just a baby.
'The reason why they call me Lil Poopy is 'cause my dad, when he used to change me, I used to poop all over his hands,' he explained. 'And he stuck me with that name.
'I actually kind of like it.'
Poopy appeared on the first series of The Rap Game earlier this year -  a show where Grammy-winning producer Jermaine Dupri chooses five aspiring child rappers to compete for a record contract with So So Def Recordings.
But Rivera Snr. argued his son was merely acting in the videos, where he is featured slapping women's behinds, riding in a Ferrari, throwing wads of cash in the air and dancing with girls twice his age.

Sadly, Luis Rivera Jr. lost out to Atlanta native Miss Mulato for the prized contract in February.
But the series, which also features the likes of Usher, Da Brat and Bow Wow, raised his profile, allowing him to sign his own contract with Sony-Epic on Friday.
He'll also be rejoining his Rap Game costars in October for a 36-state concert tour and is rumored to make an appearance in the third series of the show.
Lil Poopy has signed a mobile phone app partnership with Retrieve Technologies in Manchester, New Hampshire which allows him to distribute content for a fee.
'We're taking him to the next level,' said Sydney.
Despite his incredible success at a young age, his family are keen to keep Rivera Jnr, grounded.
His dad claimed in 2013 that Poopy never even cursed in his songs.

But during performances with Morrocan-born rapper French Montana, the founder and CEO of Cocaine City Records, Poopy sang along to profanity-laced songs about doing cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy, using machine guns, and having sex with 'p****y b***hes.'
Each performance with Montana's group 'Coke Boyz' at dance clubs, earned the young rapper about $7,500.

His dad insists, though, that Lil Poopy is a good kid who studies hard.
'He goes to school every day,' his dad told the Boston Herald. 'He knows, 'No school, no rappin'.' His teachers love him; he's a really smart kid. He still plays basketball and baseball. He was one of the best hitters on his team.'
Rivera told the Herald in 2013 that his son was not doing anything wrong, he was just following his passion.
'He's not doing drugs, he's not drinking alcohol. There are other kids out there killing kids, doing drugs, molesting. He's just singing hooks. He's not hurting anyone.'
In June, Rivera Snr. was among dozens of people arrested during a federal gang and drug raid, charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
Lil Poopy, who is about to enter the eighth grade at East Middle School, Brockton, says he still values school as coming first.
But he is hopeful for a bright future as the next Lil Wayne or Bow Wow.
'Everything is amazing at this point,' he said. 'A lot of things are coming.'
