Calamity befell the Gbarain community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Friday after a man identified as Levi Ibibi allegedly ordered the killing of two persons to avenge the murder of his son, Ebibofa.Ibibi was said to have hired some yet-to-be identified youths to kill persons, identified as Delta and Solomon Emmanuel, who allegedly stabbed Ebibofa to death.

Our correspondent learnt that the three deceased persons were friends before the tragedy occurred.

But trouble was said to have started when three of them allegedly stole empty drums and handed them to Ebibofa to sell and bring the proceeds for sharing.

Ebibofa, it was learnt, sold the drums but refused to account for the money.

The development was said to have aggrieved Delta and Emmanuel who were said to have conspired to kill Ebibofa.

A source told our correspondent that the two aggrieved friends lured Emmanuel to a nearby bush, tied him to a tree and stabbed him to death.

The source, who out of fear pleaded anonymity, said the father of the deceased went berserk when the report of his son’s murder got to him.

“Ibibi recruited some youths who went in search of the accused persons. They found them and brought them to him but he ordered the mob to stab them to death. One of the boys died on the spot, but the other one later gave up the ghost”, the source said.

It was gathered that the development caused commotion among community members who invited the police to arrest Ibibi.
